An inspiring afternoon of peacebuilding, dialogue, and action 🌍💧
On May 16, more than 50 Rotaractors joined the Virtual Peace Conference hosted by Rotaract Mediterranean and Rotaract Europe to explore the connection between peace and water.
NewGen Peacebuilders Exec. Dir. Patricia Shafer led an interactive workshop exploring practical peacebuilding tools, including the Eight Pillars of Peace from the Institute for Economics & Peace, water and peace case studies, and community-based peacebuilding with examples from Rotaracting for Peace Design Sprint initiatives.

One of our favorite times of year. Students who have participated in significant peace projects at their high schools are recognized with our NewGen Peacebuilders honor cords at graduation. Last year, these students from Woodlawn High School were among 50 who received the cords across Birmingham City Schools in Alabama. Can’t wait to announce this year’s final count in early June!

We’re inspired by young professionals in Lebanon. We launched the four-day, in-person Session I of Bridges to New Horizons on Feb. 27. Airstrikes on Beirut from Israel started on the third night. For safety, facilitators and participants adapted Session II, April 17-20, for virtual Zooms. In spite of a very deteriorated Internet across the country, almost everyone was present throughout . . . the word resilience doesn’t begin to describe . . .
