Our new fundraiser is here! We would like to provide food for students who do not have access during the summer. Our initial goal is two weeks of lunch and snacks for 20 students - which would cost approximately $550. We are looking to provide supplies for breakfast, sandwiches, snacks, and drinks. ApCA is expanding! We switched up our process this time and did our Prep work at the Charleston UUC before taking everything to the Distro location.

How it started vs. How it’s going! 🥹

Our very First Distros consisted of a handful of folks, showing up to an empty parking lot with a couple pots of Chili and some clothing we cleaned out of our own closets. We didn’t get permission. We didn’t get funding. We just showed up.

6 months later we’re still showing up, and Distro is stronger than ever. We went from serving 10 people to 100. We asked the community what resources they’d like to see and worked to source their suggestions like pet food, kids toys & books, and specific hygiene supplies. We know our people and they know us. That’s how community gets built.

If you’ve been wanting to start a Mutual Aid group in your area but aren’t sure how, we promise it’s easier than you think. It all starts with showing up.
