Meet our speaker! Sunday, September 27 @ 2pm.
"Better Homes for Less Money: Kit Houses of Charleston." Presented by Dr. Billy Joe Peyton.

Dr. Peyton received his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in history from West Virginia University—and his high school diploma from across the street from Glenwood at the former Stonewall Jackson High School.

Prior to retiring in 2023, he was a longtime professor of history at West Virginia State University. In addition to his academic career, Peyton has been a public historian for more than 40 years and has authored two books on the history of Charleston. He currently serves as chair of the Charleston Historic Landmarks Commission and as a board member for the Historic Glenwood Foundation.

He lives in Charleston with his wife, two dogs, and cherished 1960 VW Beetle.
