The Lost Dog Street Band album ‘Glory’ coming out tomorrow is a call to action. There is a revival in this country of roots artists who will not bend to the will of fame. We will not compromise integrity for cheap and fleeting stardom. We don’t give a s**t what you offer us or what carrot you dangle in front of our nose. We have no interest in what you can do for us because it is worthless unless we earn it through steadfast competence and relentless labor.
The tables have turned and we no longer need the industry to build an audience or gain the respect and appreciation of thousands. All we need is our voice and our integrity. The connection depends solely on our ability to articulate a feeling into music others can heal with.
Look through your local venue’s calendar folks. This community has real economic power. We can actually make change in this industry and define the terms we work under. We own all of the social currency in this transaction. The gatekeepers have no idea what is going on and it is time to dam the river for good.
We are the generation that will reestablish the line between entertainer and artist.
One is a job, the other is a destiny.
