💙 Happy Boss’s Day to Margaret, President & CEO of United Way Central WV! 💙

Leading an organization that supports so many programs, people, and communities across West Virginia is no small task! There are a lot of moving pieces, plenty of decisions to make, and always something happening behind the scenes. And somehow, Margaret manages to do it all while wearing the cutest shoes 👠

Today, we’re celebrating Margaret for the leadership and dedication she brings to United Way Central WV. From AmeriCorps Seniors to the many other programs that help meet community needs, her work helps keep the mission moving forward and makes a difference in the lives of so many people.

Margaret, thank you for all you do for our team, our programs, and the communities we serve. We appreciate your leadership and everything you do to help make our work possible!

💙 Happy Boss’s Day to Amber Flynn! 💙

Two AmeriCorps Seniors programs. 16 counties across West Virginia. Countless volunteers making a difference. And one director keeping it all moving! 👏

We're not quite sure how she keeps track of it all, but we're glad she does! Between the Foster Grandparent Program, RSVP, and everything that comes with leading both, there's never a shortage of things to keep her busy.

All jokes aside, Amber truly cares about our volunteers, our programs, and the communities we serve. Her leadership helps make it possible for people across West Virginia to give back, support their neighbors, and make a real difference.

Today, we're celebrating her and saying thank you for all she does. We appreciate you, Amber! Happy Boss’s Day! 💙

Join Boone Memorial Health for a day of health, wellness, and fun!

📍 Boone Memorial Hospital — Main Hospital Campus
⏰ 8:00 AM–2:00 PM
📝 Registration begins at 7:45 AM

Enjoy FREE blood work and flu shots, hearing screenings, health education, mammogram sign-ups, Walk With a Doc, live cooking demonstrations, free food, entertainment, vendors, chances to win amazing prizes, and so much more!

If you’re getting lipid testing, please fast for 12–14 hours beforehand. Insurance is not required for flu shots, but please bring your insurance card if you have one.

🍎 Happy World Teachers’ Day!

Today is a great day to say thank you to all of the teachers who pour so much time, patience, and care into their students every day.

We also want to give a special shoutout to the teachers who welcome our Foster Grandparents into their classrooms. ❤️ Our volunteers become an extra set of hands, a listening ear, a little encouragement, and sometimes just the person a child needs to believe in them.

We are so thankful for the teachers who see the value in having our Foster Grandparents beside them and who make them feel like part of the classroom family. Thank you, teachers, for all you do for our children and our communities! 📚✏️

Have you met S**t the Cat?

Our Foster Grandparents got creative during training by making their own S**t the Cat color-changing story folders to take with them to their service sites!

As S**t changes colors, children can listen, rhyme, guess, and participate—making storytime fun while building early learning skills. 💙

Training isn’t just about learning what to do—it’s about learning why it works!

Our volunteers are always ready to learn, play, and bring new ideas to the children they serve!

❤️💙💛 Day of Caring 2026! 💛💙❤️

Today, volunteers across Central West Virginia are coming together to make a difference and we’re proud to highlight one of the 69 teams: a team made up of some of our very own AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP volunteers!

Terry Stone, Anne Stone, Angie Odell, Suzanne Patterson, Oretta Keeney, and Pearl McWatters came together to help put together United Way campaign pamphlets, pitching in to support the work happening throughout our community.

We are so grateful for these volunteers and the time they give to serve others. Their willingness to lend a hand is what makes Day of Caring so special!
