PFLAG Chariton/Lucas County To create a caring, just, and
affirming world for LGBTQ+
people and those who love them.

03/11/2026

For over 53 years, PFLAG National has been on the frontlines of LGBTQ+ advocacy, and 2026 is no exception. In spite of relentless legislative attacks, our powerful and ever-expanding network of over 360 chapters and over 550,000 members and supporters nationwide are taking action—and securing wins—in statehouses, courtrooms, schoolboards, and beyond.

In this past year alone, we have sued President Trump to protect necessary medical care for trans youth under 19; expanded our network with over 40 new chapters, mainly in rural communities; launched our nationwide, grassroots advocacy campaign, Fighting For Our Pride; achieved a major win in Michigan for inclusive education; and so, SO much more.

The challenges we face aren’t going away, but with your support, neither will we. As we honor our 53rd anniversary, we ask that you support our mission with a $53 donation. Your tax-deductible gift ensures we have the resources to keep up our life-saving work at a time when the stakes have never been higher.

This is our moment to fight—for love, for liberty, for each other. 🏳️‍🌈 Give today at pflag.org/53years

"By the time I came out to my mom in 1977, I knew about . So when my mom told me that she wanted me to see a psychiatrist I told her I’d go if she went to a PFLAG meeting. She said no. I said no. Big mistake. We both would have been better off. But 13 years later, my mother went to her first PFLAG meeting. She became such an activist that I had to remind her that *I* was the gay one, that this was *my* issue." — Eric in the introduction to season 1, episode 6 (listen via link in bio). To all the proud, sash-wearing “PFLAG moms” and allies, thank you.

"I don't care if you are _____," too often implies
"I am determined not to recognize how that part of your identity might be seen by others as a problem, and how that reality impacts you from day to day."

While at first it may sound kind, or at the very least tolerant, our LGBTQ+ siblings, neighbors, children, and friends deserve better than mere tolerance. They deserve to be loved, cared for, and celebrated as complex and whole human beings, just like any one else. 🫶🏻🏳️‍⚧️🫶🏻🏳️‍🌈🫶🏻

Our hearts are with Rev. Jackson's family.

“Today, as we learn of the passing of Rev. Jesse Jackson, we mourn the loss of a giant among us. When many refused to acknowledge the existence and struggle of LGBTQ+ people, Rev. Jackson saw us, affirmed us and demanded equality inclusively. In his address to the Democratic National Convention in 1984, Rev. Jackson named us specifically as part of the fabric of the ‘American Quilt.’ He has shown up for and marched with the LGBTQ+ movement through the AIDS crisis, marriage equality, and ever after. Rev. Jackson’s leadership and allyship for LGBTQ+ people will be felt profoundly by his PFLAG family. We will honor his legacy as we continue to strive to achieve justice and equality for all.” —Brian K. Bond, CEO of PFLAG National
