As we promised here's the information for the next community meeting to talk about the Delores Wright Park project. We are not hosting the meeting, or have any part in this project. We are only sharing the information to let the community be aware and engage if possible. The time of day is a challenge for a lot of people, but once again, we're only sharing this info to get our community involved. These details were copied from another Chaparral page:

"County invites residents to help shape Chaparral community center expansion

Doña Ana County invites Chaparral residents to attend a community presentation and feedback session to help shape the future expansion of the Delores Wright Community Center and Senior Center.

Meeting details:

Wednesday, August 19 | 11:30 a.m.
Betty McKnight Community Center

Chaparral, NM 88081

Representatives from 9 Degrees Architecture and Doña Ana County will present preliminary concepts for the project and gather community feedback on design features and priorities for the expansion.

📢 CHAPARRAL, OUR VOICE MATTERS!

Yesterday, we attended a community meeting regarding approximately $5 MILLION that has been allocated for improvements at Delores Wright Park here in Chaparral.

The county, architects, and staff were there for one very important reason: they want to hear from US — the residents of Chaparral — about what our community needs.

They talked about some pretty exciting possibilities. Would we like to see an indoor gym? A weight room? An indoor pool similar to what you would find at a YMCA? What other amenities would make a difference for our community?

While much of this project is being planned with our senior community in mind, these facilities would also be shared with our youth, families, and the rest of Chaparral. This has the potential to benefit generations of our residents.

But here's the part we really need to talk about...

Out of the thousands of people who call Chaparral home, only about 20 residents showed up to yesterday's meeting.

We understand everyone has jobs, families, businesses, kids, and busy schedules. But when opportunities like this come to Chaparral, we have to make an effort to show up and make our voices heard.

If we want better parks, better facilities, more opportunities for our seniors, more activities for our kids, and a better Chaparral for our families, we have to be part of the conversation.

This isn't about politics.
This isn't about one organization or one group.
This is about Chaparral and our future.

At CHAPS EntertaiNMent, we encourage our community to start getting more involved in these meetings. Don't wait until something is already built to say what we should have had. Now is the time to speak up and help decide what our community needs.

There is $5 million being invested into OUR community. Let's make sure the people making these decisions hear from the people who actually live here.

💪 Chaparral, let's get involved. Let's show up. Let's have a voice.

Our seniors deserve it.
