EVERY ARIZONA CYCLIST KNOWS THIS FEELING.

The ride is over.

The bikes are loaded.

The GPS has stopped recording.

And somehow nobody has left the parking lot.

Because the best part of cycling isn’t always the miles, the speed, or the route. It’s the conversations after the ride. The stories shared, the friendships built, and the community that keeps us coming back.

Across Arizona, cycling brings people together in a way few activities can. From Phoenix and Scottsdale to Tucson and beyond, riders of all experience levels find connection, encouragement, and lasting friendships on two wheels.

At the Rob Dollar Foundation, we believe safer roads start with stronger cycling communities. Every ride is an opportunity to look out for one another, share knowledge, and keep Arizona cyclists riding safely.

Who’s someone you’re always happy to see at the start—or end—of a ride?

Every donation has a destination.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, the Rob Dollar Foundation recently provided funding to El Grupo Youth Cycling in Tucson, helping support programs that introduce young riders to the joy, confidence, and lifelong benefits of cycling.

Through initiatives like Summer Bike Camp, young cyclists learn safe riding habits, develop new skills, build friendships, and gain the confidence to explore their communities on two wheels.

This is why we do what we do.

Bicycle safety starts with education. It starts with opportunity. And it starts with investing in the next generation of riders.

To everyone who has donated, volunteered, shared our mission, or supported the Rob Dollar Foundation along the way—thank you. Your support is making a real impact in Arizona’s cycling community.

Together, we’re creating safer roads, stronger communities, and more opportunities for future cyclists.

Help us continue supporting programs like these.

🚴🧡 Arizona summers can be tough on cyclists—but a little preparation goes a long way.

Before your next ride:

✅ Hydrate before you start
✅ Bring electrolytes on longer rides
✅ Ride during cooler hours when possible
✅ Know the signs of heat illness
✅ Check in on your riding partners

Safe cycling starts with preparation, awareness, and looking out for one another.

What’s your best summer riding tip for Arizona cyclists?

The best part of cycling isn’t the bike.

Ask ten cyclists why they ride, and you’ll probably get ten different answers.

Some ride for fitness. Others ride for the challenge, the scenery, or the miles.

But for many riders, the best part of cycling is the community.

It’s the friends who show up before sunrise. The riders who call out hazards. The people who stop to help when someone has a flat. The cyclists who look out for each other and help make every ride safer.

At the Rob Dollar Foundation, we believe safer roads start with education, awareness, and a strong cycling community.

Whether you’re new to cycling or have been riding Arizona roads for years, we’re glad you’re part of the ride. 🧡🚴

🏆 6th Annual Rob Dollar Cup

This weekend, teams from across the western United States will gather in Santa Barbara for the 6th Annual Rob Dollar Cup, an Australian Rules Football tournament held in honor of Rob Dollar.

Rob was known for bringing people together—whether on a bike ride, at a community event, or through his love of Australian Rules Football. The Rob Dollar Cup continues that tradition by celebrating competition, camaraderie, and the lasting impact one person can have on so many lives.

While the game is played on the football field, the spirit behind it remains the same: community, connection, and honoring Rob’s legacy.

Good luck to all the players, volunteers, supporters, and families participating this weekend.

Different sport. Same purpose. 🧡

The best group rides aren’t just about speed. They’re about communication, community, and making sure every rider feels supported on the road. 🧡

From calling out traffic to checking in on another rider, small moments of awareness can make a big difference during a ride. Strong cycling communities help create safer roads, more confident riders, and a better experience for everyone on two wheels.

At Rob Dollar Foundation, we believe cycling safety starts with looking out for each other — because the best rides are the ones where everyone gets home safely.

Why is the “door zone” such a serious issue in cycling safety?

A dooring accident happens when a driver or passenger opens a vehicle door into the path of an approaching cyclist. These crashes can force riders into traffic, cause severe injuries, and happen with almost no warning.

For drivers, a quick mirror check and shoulder glance before opening a door can help prevent a life-changing accident.

For cyclists, staying aware around parked cars and allowing extra space can improve reaction time and reduce risk.

Cycling safety is not just a cyclist issue or a driver issue — it is a shared responsibility that depends on awareness from everyone on the road.

At the Rob Dollar Foundation, we are committed to promoting safer streets through education, awareness, and practical cycling safety resources.

Cycling Safety Tip Tuesday: Mind the door zone

One of the most common urban cycling dangers is the “door zone” — the space next to parked cars where a suddenly opened door can cause a serious crash.

Whether you are riding through Phoenix, Tempe, Tucson, or any busy street with parked vehicles, staying aware of the door zone is an important part of safe cycling.

Giving parked cars extra space, scanning ahead, and watching for movement inside vehicles can help reduce your risk and improve your reaction time on the road.

At the Rob Dollar Foundation, we are committed to sharing practical cycling safety education to help riders stay safer every mile.

If you drive in Arizona, this matters.

Arizona law requires drivers to give cyclists at least 3 feet of space when passing.

Too many drivers still don’t know the law—or don’t realize how dangerous close passes can be for cyclists on the road.

At the Rob Dollar Foundation, we’re working to improve cyclist safety across Arizona through education, awareness, and advocacy for safer roads.

Because every rider should make it home safely.

You can follow every rule on a bike ride and still be at risk.

That’s the reality cyclists face every day across Arizona and beyond.

Cycling safety is bigger than helmets, bike lights, and hand signals. Safer roads happen when drivers stay alert, riders communicate clearly, and communities prioritize awareness for everyone sharing the road.

At the Rob Dollar Foundation, our mission is to promote bicycle safety, support safer cycling infrastructure, and keep important conversations about road awareness moving forward.

Whether you ride in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Tucson, or anywhere else, every cyclist deserves safer streets and drivers who are paying attention.

If you ride with a group, commute by bike, or spend time on Arizona roads, share this post to help spread awareness about real cycling safety.
