The Unstrung Heroes Project

The Unstrung Heroes Project The Unstrung Heroes Project uses broken guitar or other strings to create unique jewelry which is sold with the proceeds being donated to charity.

The Unstrung Heroes Project re-purposes used/broken guitar and other instrument strings to make unique pieces of wearable art which are then sold/auctioned with the proceeds benefiting the musician's charity of choice. Each piece will include a write-up of the musician, the instrument being used, tour/venue and other intimate details as well as information about their chosen charity, along with a

certificate of authenticity. Everyone wins! The artists see their charity supported, the charity makes new gains and the fans get a piece of their favorite artist that is a step up from the coveted guitar pick!

We had an amazing time at the Oddities Flea Market in San Diego this weekend! Here are a few photos from meeting Danny Elfman and talking about the project to new friends in line. In the brief time allowed, our founder spoke about this project (new flyers also in the photos) and presented Danny Elfman with a book on Bone Music, a gift inspired from Danny Elfman's recent MRI imagery reel, and a conversation which we began with him on the topic.

About bone music: During the Cold War era, the songs that Soviet citizens could listen to were controlled by the state. But a secret underground subculture of music lovers and bootleggers defied the censors, building recording machines and making their own records of forbidden jazz, rock 'n' roll, and Russian music, cut onto used hospital x-ray film. Amazing! A link to the book is in the bio.

In the bustle, we didn't get the chance to detail how instrumental 😁 and foundational Danny Elfman was to our musical sensibilities and experimentation, but we hope it was wordlessly expressed. Suffice to say our founder's first road trip when getting her driver's license, growing up in Long Beach, was to find Pico and Sepulveda.
