The Hindu civilization is the only ancient civilization that continues to thrive on this planet with an unbroken chain of several thousand years of history, culture, and heritage. The Hindu thought is a knowledge base collected since the Vedic period (5000 years ago). This knowledge is timeless and applicable to the entire humanity. Today every 6th person is a Hindu, making it the third-largest re
ligion in the world. In spite of its huge following, rich history, and innumerable contributions to the human race, Hindu Dharma (Hindu way of life) is the least understood among the major religions today. The foremost overseas representative of Hinduism in the USA was Swami Vivekananda, who represented Hinduism at the World Parliament of Religions held in Chicago on September 11th, 1893. Since then, the number of Hindu Americans exploded from about 1700 in the 1900s to over 2.3 million today. While most of us are aware of the derivatives of Hinduism – Yoga, Meditation, Vedanta, Bhagwat Geeta, Ka*****ra, etc., a holistic understanding of the underlying philosophy is absent. Many of us celebrate the Hindu festivals such as Diwali, Holi, etc. A lot of misunderstandings surround Hinduism, due to the improper dissemination of information. The group has been initiated with the aim to preserve, practice, promote and protect Hindu Dharma by bringing together Hindu youth on the campus and showcasing the facets of Hindu Dharma to all!
