I wake up early almost every morning and I’m gifted with beauty right out my window. All summer long the sun rises right over Custer. I went outside when all of camp was still asleep (except maybe Wonderers Chasing Horizons) with the dogs to get this photo just for you.

The Pfeiffer House endured substantial damage this winter due to the relentless passage of time and rodents, which jeopardized its opening for the season. Fortunately, the Forest Service's tireless efforts ensured the house's restoration, and it remains open to visitors. To guarantee the long-term maintenance of our historic buildings and cemeteries, we have been compelled to introduce an open air tour fee. Prices are $5 for individuals and $12 for families, with a family membership pass available for $25 that includes unlimited seasonal entries. We gratefully acknowledge the contributions of our veterans and Firefighters, and offer them complimentary admission. Your support is vital to our mission.

A woman brought a small item into the store that she had found in a small burrow hole on the interpretive trail in town. We commend her honesty! We would like to remind visitors that it is against the law to remove artifacts from Custer's historic sites. Please enjoy these items in place and let us know where they are so we can all enjoy them.

It was a truly amazing day on the Yankee Fork! Here’s a little glimpse into the behind-the-scenes action. 60 volunteers from the U.S. Forest Service - Salmon-Challis National Forest, Yankee Fork Gold Dredge, and IDPR Land of the Yankee Fork Interpretive center in Challis worked enthusiastically to clean, maintain, and return the artifacts, making Custer a treasure for you to enjoy again or for the first time this summer. We’re almost ready to share it with you! U.S. Forest Service - Salmon-Challis National Forest Yankee Fork Gold Dredge
