PENDING - FOSTER HOME FOUND! 🤞🏼

🚨 URGENT: Foster Home or Bottle Feeder Volunteers Needed TODAY 🚨

A litter of 6️⃣ fluffy 3.5-week-old kittens urgently need help. They’re eating some wet food but still require bottle feedings, formula, and close monitoring to continue thriving. 🥹

🏡 An experienced foster home is desperately needed (approximately a 2–4 week commitment).
🍼 We will train bottle-feeding volunteers to take shifts at our building if a suitable foster home isn’t found.
🍽️ We can provide food and formula.

We were stretched beyond our limit on space and time BEFORE these precious fluff balls arrived. Without additional help, we are running out of options.

Please message us immediately if you can help. Just 2–4 weeks of your time could save six tiny lives. 💕🐾🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱

The WHMS cats 🐈🐈‍⬛ would like to extend a very special thank you to our incredible volunteers who spent the past two days doing all the things that our main cat care crew struggles to get to: Faythe Linder and her sweet girls, Mattie Anderson, and Meghan Taylor.

Sometimes keeping the little mouths fed 🍗, the boxes scooped 🪏, and the meds distributed 💉 is all we’ve got in us—we’ve been working with a skeleton crew for the better part of a year. 😅

While our executive director and volunteer coordinator were running on fumes, some of our part-time volunteers swooped in and saved the day. 🦸‍♀️ Dishes and laundry are clean 🧺, dirty boxes and carriers are now sparkling 🧼, floors are mopped 🫧, trash has disappeared 🗑️, and our cats got plenty of love while receiving excellent care. 🥹🐾

It may not be the fun part of rescue (the fun part is playing with cats—we do plenty of that too! 😻), but it is the part that makes everything else possible. Thank you for being the helpers holding us up—we couldn’t do this without you. 🥹🐾

HOLD, PLEASE! 🤍

We did 19 adoptions for the month of May, how amazing is that? With that being said, Petsmart & all of the TNVR/spay days and events have worn us all out.

It’ll take us some time to catch up on adoption applications and volunteer offers, please be patient, we are trying to get through them!

Shoutout to wonderful foster mom and friend of the rescue, Jessica. She runs an incredible business out of Taylorville, IL that features products from countless local creators. You can’t find this beautiful, unique combination of products anywhere else.

She’s also providing a home for WHMS kittens, Detlef Schrempf and Junie, until they’re big enough to start searching for their forever families. 🥹

This month has been weird. It was our best sales month in nearly 5 years, apart from Decembers for holiday shopping. While our sales were outstanding, our FB posts have DROPPED off dead 🤦‍♀️🤣. Can’t win ‘em all.

We’ve been opening up on Mondays more frequently, I made and shipped so many custom orders this month, and we checked 1,468 of you out at the register. I got to meet some long-time online customers too. That in itself is… just wow 🥰

There were random slow days, even in a booming sale month, that had me thinking “they don’t like us anymore, do they?” The ups & downs of small business never fail to mess with your head.

I’m just immensely grateful, and don’t feel like I’ve been telling you all enough. You’re supporting 63 local families now when you buy from our store. That’s incredible. And it makes my soul happy seeing the difference we make.

Poppy is on her way back to our main building in Assumption awaiting her purrrrfect furever family to come adopt her!🥺❤️

Poppy is the sweetest girl, loves to explore, and is great with both kids and other cats!🐈 She is so friendly and loving too! Poppy would really make an amazing family cat for someone with kiddos running around the house!🫶

Poppy has had 2 failed adoptions and we are so sad she has to make the trip back to our headquarters instead of to her furever family..😭

We know her furever home is out there somewhere.... we just need to find it!🤞

Spay day! Preventing these 12 cats who were previous Pana colony kittens (and 3 would have been Assumption colony kittens) from continuing the cycle. 💅🏼

Huge thank you to our veterinary partners for being amazing and helping us clean these enormous messes up! We couldn’t do it without them, or our donors! 🤍

Mouse just wants love and a furever home to call his own🥹🫶

Anyone would be LUCKY to adopt Mouse; he is the SWEETEST boy and loves to cuddle! Don't let him spend his life in the shelter... he deserves so much more🥺

LAST DAY AT PETSMART IS SUNDAY THE 31ST!🚨 APPLY TO ADOPT!📢

Not one application for Mango or Asher....😭 Poppy had 2 pending applicants at one point but neither ended up adopting😕 MJ had an approved adopter, but after the meet and greet, made the decision that MJ was a little too shy for his home environment🥺 Mouse also has not received ANY applicantions all month which is absurd because Mouse is literally perfect!😣

All of these adorable kitties are still available for adoption, but only at the Mattoon PetSmart until this Sunday!

If they are not adopted, they will be brought back to our rescue building in Assumption (which is nearly a 1hr car-ride for them)🙁
