Clemson Area Food Exchange (CAFE) is a cooperative group of small farms, gardeners, and producers within a 50 mile radius of the Clemson area; we serve Anderson, Pickens, and Oconee Counties. We have two parts: 1) a gathering of the minds to share and spread ideas and 2) an online market which meets at one place to transfer orders from Clemson-area farmers to Clemson-area customers. It’s going to be a hot one, but I know the farmer’s markets, farm stands, and local shops are starting to fill with the gorgeous colors of summer produce and flowers!

If you don’t care for the heat or have other plans, you can still shop locally through CAFE in the comfort of your air conditioning. The market opens tonight at 9pm and will close Monday at noon. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to message us!

🌠Would you believe that this squidgy looking thing is a helpful scrubbing tool? What once was a bright green fruit hanging from a vine has now been dried and can be used in the kitchen or in your shower!

Luffa is a member of the squash family and, when harvested very young, is a popular veggie in many Asian countries. But when allowed to mature, it becomes very fibrous. Once it’s fully dry you can peel away the skin, shake out the seeds, and clean the sponge-like luffa to be used as a skin exfoliating tool or as a household scrubby! 🧽🧼You can also save the plethora of seeds to grow the next season!

Thank you to customers Emilia and Greg for sharing with our volunteers!

(Luffa is not currently available in CAFE’s product list, but perhaps it will be in the future.)

Yay! It’s Market Day!!!

Happy Tuesday to one and all. We hope your week is off to a great start. We are absolutely thrilled to share that each order today will come with a copy of Homegrown magazine! Chanda Morris wrote an excellent feature about CAFE that we all love and so many of our wonderful farming/producing partners have articles about them as well! Thank you to Oconee Farm Collective for making this publication a possibility.
