"What I enjoy most about working at Mary Sunshine House (MSH) is building real connections with the residents and being able to support them in their growth and independence. Even in the time I've been here, it's been so rewarding to get to know everyone and be a part of such a supportive community. Since I've started at MSH, I've seen residents become more comfortable, confident, and independent. Working at MSH has taught me the importance of patience, communication, and supporting each person in their own way."

As Autism Acceptance Month comes to a close, we are making our final push to reach our $5,000 campaign goal for Mary Sunshine House. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we have already raised $4,079.26—and we are so close to the finish line.

Mary Sunshine House is a private-pay, nonprofit independent living community for adults with autism and/or intellectual disabilities. We provide enrichment opportunities in the areas of apartment living, education, employment development, socialization, and community integration. We are not funded by the government and rely entirely on the generous support of individuals like you. Your support helps create opportunities for our residents to build independence, learn new skills, and be part of a caring community where they can truly thrive.

💛 At Mary Sunshine House, we value collaboration!

Last Sunday, our residents and staff had the opportunity to attend a hockey game at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena to watch the Greenville Swamp Rabbits play. For many of our residents, it was their very first hockey game—and an experience they won’t forget!

What made the day even more special was that the Greenville Swamp Rabbits hosted a sensory-friendly game, creating an inclusive and enjoyable environment for individuals with autism. Our residents shared that they loved the experience and would absolutely go again.

A special thank you to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits for even giving Mary Sunshine House a shoutout on the Jumbotron—we truly appreciate your support and commitment to inclusion!

💛 Meet our intern, Kaylee!

"I have enjoyed sharing stories, laughter, and time spent with one another. Some of my favorite moments are getting out in the town, whether that's going to a restaurant, attending sports games or even walking the track. It's those shared memories that make working at Mary Sunshine House (MSH) so meaningful. I have noticed growth in both confidence and connection. As residents have moved in, I've seen existing and new residents become confident in building relationships and being themselves. I have also noticed growth in how they navigate the community and their willingness to try new things. Working at MSH has taught me that everyone has their own unique personality and way of experiencing the world. That is what makes each person special. Ultimately, we all share a desire to build connections, feel included, and be understood."

Interns like Kaylee help create a community where residents can grow, connect, and thrive.
