A little about Caleb:
Caleb was born to be an athlete (according to him). He knew from an early age that he wanted to play sports and he wanted to do it well. He started playing t-ball at 4 and never stopped playing baseball. He did pick up football several times but it never stuck. Baseball was his thing. He loved the game itself, the competitiveness of beating his friends, and always worked to be better than the day before.
Caleb was an All-District Catcher at Central High School as well as Defensive MVP his senior year. He shined the entire season and played his best baseball that year. He was pumped to move on and play college ball. He received several offers but ultimately decided to go the JuCo route and played at Holmes Community College in Mississippi for his first year. He continued his hunt for "something more". After his first year at Holmes, he made the decision to join his best friend of 14 years at William Woods University to continue his baseball career.
Caleb never got to fulfill his dream. He never got to play alongside his best friend at college. Caleb got off work early that day to do his virtual orientation but at 2:18 pm on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, a drunk driver hit Caleb's driver side. He was airlifted to OLOL hospital but ultimately did not survive the injuries he sustained. We now live without our child and the world is missing a beautiful soul. At 16, Caleb decided to be an organ donor. With the help of LOPA, he was able to save many lives.
He was a light to everyone who knew him and brought us nothing but joy and happiness. We miss him each day and hope that we can continue to honor him and his legacy as he deserves. That is why we created the Caleb Easterling Memorial Scholarship. The Scholarship will help a ball player who has the same determination to succeed that Caleb had. We hope you always .
