Fort Boggy State Park

8th Annual Kid Fish

Registration Opens January 1, 2025!

The new year is fast approaching and with it, registration for our 8th Annual Kid Fish! Make plans to attend Fort Boggy State Park’s 8th Annual Kid Fish, Saturday, February 22nd. The “Annual Kid Fish” is for children ages 5-12. Children must be 5 years of age by September 1, 2024. All participating children must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older and no more than two children per adult. Pre-registration is highly recommended, though there will be a limited number of walk-ins allowed. Dress appropriately as this event will take place regardless of weather.

Registration begins January 1, 2025 and will continue until sessions are filled or February 14th, whichever comes first. Don’t delay in registering due to the limited space available.

You must sign up using the website provided on the TPWD Events Page (https://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/fort-boggy/park_events) or the QR code provided on the Fort Boggy (https://www.facebook.com/FortBoggyStatePark) or Friends of Fort Boggy (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61568366385106) pages. The registration link will not be available and activated until January 1st. No registrations will be taken over the phone.

Space is limited to 75 participants per session. There are two sessions to choose from: Morning session (9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.) and Afternoon session (1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.)

During each session, participating children will receive an event t-shirt (pre-registered only) and, once they have completed the clinic portion of the event, will have the opportunity to fish in Lake Sullivan with their brand new Zebco rod ‘n’ reel (bait will be supplied to the participants). Complete instructions for each session will be provided at check-in on the day of the event. This is a family event! Family members can bring their own equipment or use the park’s loaner equipment to fish. Bait can be purchased at the park office. Every child regardless of age will receive a free ice cream coupon!

While we will not conduct a tournament as in the past, each participant will receive a 2025 Kid Fish commemorative bag tag that can be clipped to a backpack or gym bag as well as a goodie bag of information and treats. There may also be a surprise event for participants’ siblings 4 years and younger - more details to follow on this in future articles.

The Annual Kid Fish at Fort Boggy State Park is FREE for all children 12 years and younger! A park entrance fee of $3.00 per person, 13 years and older is required. We encourage you to purchase a park entrance pass at the time of registration.
