We Are Safe, Inc. We Are Safe is a non-profit providing services to victims of domestic violence in rural TN

WAS began in 1987 as a volunteer effort to provide shelter and safety to victims of domestic violence in Hickman County, Tennessee. Today, we have five volunteer board members, an Executive Director, Program Assistant, and two advocates dedicated to our mission of serving the immediate needs of domestic violence survivors in five rural Tennessee counties. Each year, we serve hundreds of victims of

domestic violence through our comprehensive services, including a 24-hour confidential crisis hotline, safe temporary shelter, court advocacy, transportation assistance, education about the dynamics of domestic violence, support groups, referrals to community resources, and ongoing advocacy. Our mission has always been to provide safety, hope, and support to every victim who reaches out to us. While women continue to make up the majority of those we serve, our services have never been limited to women alone. Since 2017, we have also provided shelter and supportive services to nine men who needed a safe place during times of crisis. As our organization has grown, we realized our name no longer fully reflects the people we serve or the mission we fulfill every day. To better represent our commitment to serving ALL survivors of domestic violence, regardless of gender, we officially changed our name to We Are Safe on July 1, 2026. Although our name has changed, our mission remains the same—to provide safety, advocacy, and hope to every individual who needs our help.

Thank you so much to the amazing, generous, thoughtful, hard-working, dedicated ladies with the GFWC Dickson County Ladies Club. All it takes is one text or phone call and these ladies go to work.
Because of these wonderful women, our client's child had brand new clothes, shoes, a back pack, and all new school supplies for the first day of school. They also donated cash for our client to get any other items they may need.
We are beyond blessed!

We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of January-May and August-November.

Our next meeting is on Tuesday, August 18th, 2026 at 6 pm in Room B of the Dickson County Government Building and Public Library.
