Good morning everyone!

My apologies for the delay in posting. My life professionally has been very busy and I needed to take a social media break for my mental health but I am continuing to hand out flyers! So far, 1500 flyers have been handed out and 66% of Centretown is complete!

I have started to reach out to printing companies and hopefully soon we can get more people to help out! It would be amazing to do all of Ottawa before it becomes ice city 🐱

I have heard from Furry Tales Cat Rescue that they have recieved significantly more foster applications and previous fosters have seen the flyer and applied :)

I have heard from a few people that they used to follow rescues in Ottawa on social media but it became too whelming and sad which absolutely makes sense. When people care it leaves them open to deep positive and negative emotions 💓. They did not know that rescues were struggling to find fosters and is honestly one of the reasons I started this campaign! I did not want to accept that people knew and just didn't care.

Attention! I just received word from Furry Tales Cat Rescue that they have been receiving significantly more foster applications! It's working everyone! This weekend, I really want to think about expanding this.

Please let me know if anyone has any experience with developing a network!

10 days later, 7 days handing out 750 flyers after work, 21 km walked and Centertown is 1/4 complete! I am ordering another batch of flyers for Furry Tales Cat Rescue

I know that 750 flyers is such a small amount compared to the population of Ottawa and that only a small fraction of those will arrive in the hands of those that can/want to foster but why not at least try 🥰

I hope to reach out to some print shops for the third batch of flyers and to maybe scout a volunteer or two to help!

Shout out to Herb & Spice Shop and The Art House Café whose lovely employees took some flyers for either store or personal use!

Future Outreach Ideas: Maildrops to apartments and rural homes, local businesses and poster boards, telephone poles and potentially a print ad in community newspaper. 🐱

Edit Update: They are set to Arrive on October 5th! Excited to lace up the sneakers :O

I just ordered my first 1000 flyers for Furry Tales Cat Rescue! If, after these have been handed out, the rescues has enough applications, I will move on to the next one!

My hope is that, if the rescue has enough applications before the batch of 1000 is dispersed, they will forward the potential foster to another rescue

Here are my plans for the future:

1) Share on social media and with other rescues
2) Create a secondary pamphlet with names of other volunteers
3) Order Shirts
4) Break Ottawa into 1-2 hr Blocks
5) Post when Flyers arrive
6) Take photos from block trips
7) Block update, playlists shoes before and after and fitness/kms
walked
8) Decide: secondary pamphlet with other rescues in need of
fosters
9) Add a note about adopting from the rescue too
10) Look into events where I could hand out flyers
11) Get more volunteers to help with blocks (library groups,
volunteer groups, etc.)
12) Partner with business to cover the cost of flyers and mail drops
13) If the initial rescue hits their limit of fosters, I will switch to
handing out flyers for another rescue.
14) Start a network of Flyer for Fosters volunteers in Canada as a
whole
15) Start an initiative with local business to start a foster Friday
special for volunteers and fosters
16) Start Challah for Cats. A non-profit bakery where all profits go
to rescues in need

Hi everyone,

Rescues are currently overwhelmed. I already have 4 cats but this issue truly makes me worry down to my core.

I decided to walk the walk and start my own poster campaign. My goal is to segment Ottawa into blocks and tackle this the old fashion way. Facebook groups have such a limited reach!

Daily I will work my way around the blocks with flyers for a rescue that will hopefully land in the hands of potential fosters.

Stay tuned for where I am heading first!
