As part of ASI’s Wool Reimagined contest, we’re highlighting finalist ideas that expand potential uses for American wool, particularly lower-value fiber with limited markets. We had many entries and 9 finalists but only one winner…and today we’re spotlighting the winner!

Winner spotlight: Southern Colorado Wool Pellet Project (Center Conservation District).

This winning concept focuses on wool pellets for agricultural crop applications, a potentially large market that requires a different pellet than what’s used in horticulture. While wool pellets have shown promise in horticultural use, crop production demands a pellet that’s more durable and compact, so it can be applied through standard agricultural equipment.

The poster stood out because it was clear, well designed, and highly practical, showcasing a new use for unwashed, lower value wool in a way that’s easy to understand and rooted in real world application. This isn’t just an idea on paper...this project is being actively pursued!

We received many strong entries and will be featuring Wool Reimagined finalists throughout the year. Thank you to everyone who submitted and congratulations again to the winning team.
