I miss everyone so much. I hope we all realize how richly blessed we are to still be alive 45 years after graduation. May those of us who've passed be in the arms of the angels.

When I went to the American Legion meeting at the Chamber of Commerce, Ronnie Buford ask whether I was there for them, or for Lola. So after the Legion's meeting, I went across the street to see our dearest Lola. I saw a young lady who looks so much like Lola, I asked whether she was her daughter and she was. I introduced myself as one of Lola's classmates and she recognized my name as soon as I told her that. It was her daughter Amy. I offered condolences on behalf of the class and told her how very much we all loved her mother and held her in such high regard. We both teared up at that point and we hugged. She told me she'd been blessed to have such a wonderful mother for 40 years and I agreed that Lola was one of the most loving, caring mothers who ever lived. So, as I took my leave, I told Amy how blessed I was to have had precious, selfless Lola as my friend, and that I respected & loved her very much and I miss her already. It's uncanny how much she reminds me of Lola. Brenda wasn't there but I talked to Cobb and asked him to tell her that the Class of '77 is here for her. Oh, and I told Amy that she can find us on Facebook groups if her family needs anything we can provide. I had cried when I patted Lola's sweet hand and all the way through watching the photo tribute on the TV in the chapel twice. There are so many pictures from school such as her Sr picture from the yearbook, the one most all the girls had made standing in front of that wagon wheel prop I think in Jr year and several of her as that sweet little girl from grammar school. I'm very grateful that I was able to go to her visitation tonight. I pray that some of you can also go tomorrow or to her service at 11a.m. on Saturday. May our beloved rest in peace and sing with the angel choir. Below is the Link to her obituary:

I was in the process of creating an announcement but I was delayed because I was chatting with a family member. I see that Linda Raines Scott has already informed you of another great loss to our class. It is with a very heavy, broken heart πŸ’” that I learned that our dear Lola Johnson has passed away this afternoon. I just had a chat with her a few days ago and she spoke of how much she loved the card we signed at our recent reunion and sent to her by her niece, our classmate Brenda Smith Moore. Lola and I had grown close over the past few years, mostly because this Facebook group brought us back together. When she became ill, we had a nice chat at least once a week, and our chats continued when I, too, became ill. We prayed together for healing. As sick as sweet Lola was, even when her illness progressed so quickly, she always showed a genuine concern for MY health. In speaking to Brenda earlier, I said that Lola was one of the most selfless, honest, caring, and empathetic person that I've ever known. I wish I was half as good a person as Lola was. I'll always picture her as that shy person on stage in our production of the Grand Ole Uproar... Her angelic voice singing "Satin Sheets." At first, she had difficulty keeping time, until Mayfield Brown taught her to keep time by patting herself on the hip with the beat of the music.🎢🎡 After that, she sang it perfectly and her nervousness almost disappeared completely. She had told me that she had planned to back out until we went to Mr Brown for help. In my heart β€οΈπŸ’œπŸ’•πŸ’šπŸ’› and eyes, she will always be that Young lady... The one who walked through her fear onto that stage to share her amazing voice with everyone. That, my dear friends and classmates is the way she lived her life.... Walking through fear with faith that God would lead her to the other side. And now, God has led her from this world into eternity. I don't know about you, but I'm absolutely certain she's made it to heaven, because she DEFINITELY earned her wings. So I can now almost hear her sweet voice singing in the Angel Choir. May our dear classmate and friend Lola rest in peace.
