Troop 33 participated in some Earth Day activities over the weekend. Our annual cleanup of 16th Avenue between Stoney Point Rd and Wiley Blvd on Sunday was a great success. We picked up 12 bags of garbage and multiple large items that were creating an eyesore along that stretch of road

Parents, new and old.
The Friends of Troop 33 and the Troop 33 Committees both meet tonight (Sunday) at the Fairfax Legion Hall.
Friends of Troop 33 meet at 6:30.
Troop 33 Committee meets at 7pm.

These are critical functions of the Troop and this is where adults meet to figure out how to make the requests of the Patrol Leader Council a reality.
You SHOULD have opinions about how the Troop is run and this is where you can contribute to creating the experience your Scout deserves. These are open-to-all meetings and we truly want your voice to be heard.

Bear bags have evolved...

Remember, it's April 1.

Today, Northern Tier is proud to introduce our state-of-the-art P.A.W.S. (Protective Autonomous Weight-lifting System).

The P.A.W.S. system will replace the traditional rope-and-pulley method of hanging bear bags, which is labor-intensive. This simple system will ensure your food is protected without the hassle of manually lifting your food.

This new system functions in sentry mode through the night, using lidar detection along with artificial intelligence to scan the environment for approaching bears. Once a bear has been detected and perceived as a threat. The autonomous flight kicks on. The P.A.W.S., along with up to 200lbs of payload, swiftly take off, reaching a height of 50ft in less than 2 seconds. The autonomous flight will then hold its position for up to 4 hours while the bear moves on.

We are confident that his new system will revolutionize backcountry bear protection for the 21st century!

Starting on April 1st, all Northern Tier crews will be issued the P.A.W.S. system, and soon, the Northern Tier P.A.W.S. will be coming to a high adventure base near you!

Mr Battien received a Silver Beaver award.
