Bonus mile day! After yesterday's 62 miles, 4 of the youth team wanted more and joined up with a local breakfast ride. A great 28 mile round trip with a big firehouse fundraiser breakfast in the middle. The drive and determination in this year's crew is amazing.

Closing out another great week of practice! One of three rides had to be cancelled for torrential downpour, but the team made up for it today! With June comes longer rides, and today was our first Grand Fondo (62.1 mi/100 km) taking advantage of the annual Bridges Ride in the Cedar Valley. Not only did the youth complete the full 60 mile course and change, but they also led a small group of the younger trail riders on the Family Ride portion of the route as part of a Day of Leadership for the team. With food, water, and music every 10-15 miles, plus hundreds of other cyclists, it was a great chance to see what a large scale group ride looks and feels like.

This week has been an amazing week! After last week's campout, most of the bikes got a good deep clean. We have been blessed both by local businesses sponsoring our Ice Cream ride and donors through our Amazon list.
Today was a new team distance ride at 57 miles with the bonus of meeting some fans and supporters on the trails. Depending on which training program they are working on, this was either the 2nd or 3rd 50+ mile ride in the last 8 days for individual youth.
As we near th end of the 3rd month of training, we want to give a big thank you shout-out to the Cedar Valley and friends who continue to support and provide the little things that keep the youth's wheels on the road.

A big thank you to 4 Queens Dairy Cream - Cedar Falls for a sweet treat for the team last night!

An amazing campout weekend for the team! A beautiful Saturday for a 50 mile bike ride that included stopping by the Cedar Valley Bicycle Collective at the Waverly Farmers Market and a great camping night in Heery Woods on the Rolling Prairie Trail - Butler County, Iowa! The good weather continued into Sunday with a 30 mile ride back home. The slightly wet tents were reset back up to dry while the century training crew did a 20 mile extra loop.

We are immensely grateful to the folks in charge of the Rolling Prairie Trail for arranging for our campsite and being fantastic hosts! We're looking forward to getting back up there soon!
