Accomplishments and Go

als:
Teaming with local fire departments, flags are displayed on utility poles lining our main roads from Memorial Day until Halloween. During spring, summer and fall, flower boxes are placed and maintained on the Proctorsville Village Green, and 2 public spaces adjacent to our elementary school and volunteers keep the plants watered and grounds clean. The largest long term goal is recovery of an abandoned town garage site, converting to a welcoming public space. Following plans created by a landscape architect, some site work has already been accomplished however much more needs to be done.

With chaos from the flood clean-up going on all around Depot Street and the town, the Svec Memorial Park on the Proctorsville Green is serene. Former Town Manager Richard Svec was instrumental in creating this park and was also a strong leader in bringing our town back to normal during Tropical Storm Irene, our last devastating flood, in 2011. Taking a moment to rest, gather, or play in the park will honor Richโ€™s good work and dedication to beautifying our community.

Peter LaBelle our trusted treasurer for Cavendish Streetscapes takes good care of money received from donations, fundraising, and grants. In addition, he donates beautiful stained glass items to the Birds & Blooms Sale. Take a look at the one in dGโ€™s Bodyworks window in Proctorsville. Thank you Peter!

Cavendish Streetscapes history continues as we celebrate 5 years in action. July 2018 ~ Streetscapes volunteers Julia Gignoux, Martha Mott, and Carolyn Solzhenitsyn attended the Townwide Yard Sale to get the word out about the new Cavendish Streetscapes and to solicit donations to pay for flags. People donated $35 to sponsor a flag in the name of someone they cared for and a list was made and hung in the town office. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

In 2018, Cavendish Streetscapes was formed by a group of local volunteers who wanted to beautify the community. Their first order of business was to put up flags around town with the help of the Proctorsville and Cavendish Fire Departments. Proctorsville flags were hung in 2018 and Cavendish in 2019. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
