VFW Auxiliary Department of Virginia We assist Veterans, Active-Duty Military and their families. We are one of the top ten
providers of volunteer hours in the VA medical
system.

The VFW AUXILIARY is one of the nation’s oldest veterans’ service organizations and our members are the relatives of those who have served in overseas combat. We have 475,000 members representing all 50 states, the District of Columbia and several foreign-based Auxiliaries who volunteer millions of hours and give millions of dollars to support veterans, military service personnel, and their famili

es. We are a voice for veterans on Capitol Hill and
are instrumental in assisting the VFW pass or
block legislation that impacts veterans and
their families. Every year, members fund-raise
millions of dollars for charitable projects that
benefit veterans and their families. We also
provide hundreds of thousands of dollars in
scholarships for our nation’s youth. With more
than 4,000 Auxiliaries, there is likely one in
your area working to improve the lives of
America’s uncommon heroes.

Members, don't forget that National Convention Delegates and Alternates MUST be entered into MALTA by May 31, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. CST. No Delegates or Alternates can/will be able to be entered at National Convention. If you know you are supposed to be a Delegate or Alternate, please check in MALTA *before* May 31 to confirm that you have been entered as Delegate or Alternate. This is a firm deadline.

If you have not been entered as Delegate or Alternate and should have been, please contact your Secretary immediately. When you log into your MALTA account, if you are a Delegate or Alternate, this is what you will see.

Every year, we have disappointed members who preregistered for National Convention but were not entered as Delegates despite having been voted in at their meetings. Don't let this be you!

What is the difference between the VFW and the VFW Auxiliary?
How is the VFW Auxiliary making a difference?
Where can you learn more about our organization?

Read about our National Programs and learn how you can become a member to make a difference in the lives of veterans, service members, their families and local communities on our website: vfwauxiliary.org/what-we-do

Pictured: For the third consecutive year, Alabama VFW Post 1762 and their Auxiliary spent Day of Service volunteering at Garrett's Place, which provides foster children two weeks' worth of clothing, a suitcase, toiletries, toys and other necessities as they enter foster care, which is often a scary and confusing experience during which they may have nothing from their home to take with them to their new placement.

As we get closer to the end of the Program Year our National Ambassadors are amping up their Auxiliary output as three brand new Program blogs have been added to MALTA Member Resources-Ambassador Blogs! This means there’s triple the amount of ways to get to know what is going on with your Ambassadors as each unique blog spotlights a different Program.

❤️ National Legislative Ambassador Amy Jo Lett reminds readers why what we accomplished this year matters so much.

🤍 In his blog, National Scholarships Ambassador Philip Reinpold gives thanks to the teachers, parents, judges and more who made the Scholarships Program a success.

💙 Finally, National Youth Activities Ambassador Shannon Stanley shares her thoughts on what we can learn from this Program and the youth involved.

Don’t miss these important updates from your National Ambassadors. They’re writing to every member, and you can help ensure their messages are heard.

Have you heard of Auxiliary SWAP?

SWAP was an initiative started in 2018 that encouraged members to Share Wonderful Auxiliary Projects. It works when an Auxiliary has had a great idea for a project, Program, event, parade float, membership recruitment or promotion and decides to document and share that idea with other Auxiliaries. On Saturdays, we share SWAP ideas and successful SWAPs.

Below are 3 easy ways to SWAP!

Social Media: Photograph your event, project, etc. and share along with “How To” information on your Auxiliary’s page. Ask your Department to share your post, too, in order to ensure the idea reaches more members. With every posting, use the hashtag so members from all over the country and beyond can see these ideas, too.

The E-Newsletter: If you’ve had a great idea that you’d like to share with our membership, be it a type of membership drive, Program promotion, request for a new type of press release, community project or even a cool parade float, send it to us at [email protected] with the subject line “AuxSWAP.” We would love to periodically share these with our membership through the E-News throughout the year!

Word of Mouth: Talk up your ideas the old-fashioned way! Go to a District, Department or County Council meeting, Conference or Convention and chat with fellow members about what you did, how you did it, what worked, what didn’t, and what may work for others in the future! Answer questions, but also exchange ideas for the future that might improve upon what you’ve done and help them to have the same positive experience your Auxiliary did.

When you share your Auxiliary’s ideas and another Auxiliary runs with them, that’s a successful Auxiliary SWAP!

‼️ Action Alert: Congress has already shown strong bipartisan support for the Major Richard Star Act.

Now support must lead to action.

If your Representative supports the bill, ask them to sign the discharge petition and help move this legislation forward.
