Our mission embodies the idea of self sufficiency:

We are transforming the former North Casper School into a community food hub.

Everyone is welcome.

Over the past year we have produced food for all our community to enjoy in the “Food is Free” Community Garden where anyone can come pick any time- no questions asked.

We have launched our free seed library inside.

We have built out a lot of farm infrastructure to convert the former school grounds into intensive food production

The inside is transforming from a former school into a farm headquarters, volunteer center, coffee shop, tool shop, and more

The gymnasium got a new coat of paint and is now a welcome indoor space for recreation

And we are just getting started!

Urban Thistle Farm & Market is just one of the many programs Casper Housing Authority sponsors in an effort to make the lives of our community members better.

Urban Thistle isn't just a farm - it's a career training center where we inspire young lives to support their communities through the work of food justice.

Urban Thistle is a volunteer opportunity for adults who are retired, and have gifts to share.

Urban Thistle is a volunteer opportunity for adults with disabilities who have gifts and time and talen to give. Last year our friends at Ireach 2, Inc. helped us start hundreds of seeds that were planted in the community garden. Then, all winter they've helped us save and package seeds to sow this summer for pollinators.

There's so much to Urban Thistle Farm & Market, a Casper Housing Authority CHA CARES program. Come see what kind of exciting things we are doing this Saturday at the Winter Market.

Free Rides on New Years Eve!

We are happy to announce that we are giving free rides for new years!! We have partnered up with Quality Landscape services, Grime Busters Pro Detailing, and 307 Phat Boy Perfomance to make sure everyone gets home safe on new years!! Let’s ring in 2026 on a good note!
