National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) has proclaimed Vet Tech Week 2026 as October 18–24!
This year's focus is Compassion in Practice, Expertise in Action

The WyVTA knows that veterinary medicine doesn't exist without the team and working together. Each 'part' of the team has its dedication week, and we try to keep up on them, but this week is designed to highlight the dedication veterinary technicians bring to their patients, clients, teams, and profession every day.

So we would like to SEE (post pictures please!!!) and tell us how your CVTs show compassion in practice and expertise in action or TELL US in a story that impacted you! As veterinary teams we so rarely toot our own horns unless we are begged to do it... SO WE ARE BEGGING :) for you to tell us! We know you are out there and compassion is one of the reasons we came into this field. At our recent Fall CE, expertise was apparent by those participating to improve themselves! LET YOUR CVT SHINE!
(oh and LET YOUR CLIENTS KNOW TOO or ask them to post a story/picture as well :))

For those of you patiently waiting for your 2025 and 2026 renewals for membership and certification, I am back on deck working on these a few hours a day as work and time on finishing up Fall CE documentation permits. I can only go as fast as I can and I respectfully request your patience. I am trying to block chunks of time two weeks in advance to make sure I have quiet, and no distractions as each record is its own case from start to finish.

I have a goal for this week, I'm pushing to hit it, but it's looking like this weekend which may be best for the next step of signatures. Then back to me for finalizing the documents and filing, emailing out, and mailing out hard copies.

There is a lot at stake to ensure YOUR records and our recording of them is accurate and secure. I wish it was as easy as counting up CEUs, checking names, dates, spelling, addresses/phone etc. letter by letter, etc. but it's opening and reading some files and several folders online and any emails and/or printed documents I have on hand to confirm everything.

NEW memberships are being processed by our Membership/Certification Chair - Wendy Stookey. As those require a bit more time to create the files, save the documentation appropriately or even scan hard copies to PDF or vice versa ensure we have both methods saved and backed up as well as backed up membership registration, etc. then those certificates need to be signed by the president as well before they can be finally completed and processed.

We are both working diligently to make sure your information is secure and processed correctly.

The WyVTA Board is very happy to have so many folks looking at our new website. But words of warning, there are several pages that are only partially done and as such, not published for public view yet. We are trying to keep the number of tabs to just one level across the main screen rather than several as was an issue with the previous site. General groups with dropdowns within, hopefully easier to find related items more easily.
If you see the BIG WORDS that say 'YOU DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO VIEW THIS PAGE' which seems very harsh - please read it as "still under construction" or "not ready for viewing yet." I'm checking if we can fix that somehow.

Right now - the most information is on the registration for membership/certification pages and the About Us and Board Members pages.
Remember too there is a link to our page right on the main screen at www.wyovta.org and we'd love to see more discussion there....
ESPECIALLY since National Veterinary Technician Week is coming up fast October 18-24, 2026.

For all the attendees from Fall CE 2026.
President Kelly Ferguson will be loading the CE survey by the end of the weekend (~27th). She will individually email the link out to each attendee to take the survey.
PLEASE NOTE: there will be a time limit so be watching your email for that link (check your spam too!)
All onsite and virtual attendees must complete the survey questions and SUBMIT the completed survey to be considered for the CE Certificate.

Please bear with us as it will take about A WEEK (after the survey due date) to match up attendees/sessions/and CEUs you've earned to your personalized CE Certificate which will be emailed to you in a PDF.

I or Kelly will post back here as soon as we have made progress and a due date is given, and again when certificates have been emailed out.

It's already been almost a week since our 2026 Fall CE program in Casper, WY.
We could tell that everyone was busy as the last-minute changes from onsite to hybrid (virtual) attendees via ZOOM shifted our attendance to about 2/3rds on site and 1/3 of the attendees attending from home or work. That's the highest virtual attendees since COVID when we first offered a hybrid conference!
The board is thrilled that we could offer that feature for our members, new members, and VT Students.

The ZOOM feature takes a bit more involvement than just logging in by Zoom! Thanks to long time Board member and VT - AV-computer guru Tom Page, CVT, Team lead at Altitude Veterinary Hospital in Casper, WY, Tom has continued to provide excellent supervision of the Zoom participants and the speakers whether presenting onsite and broadcasting out to our Zoom participants or zooming in and broadcasting to our onsite attendees and out to the virtual attendees as was the case this year! In addition, Tom maintains the attendance records of who's 'in class' for each session as the certificate given covers ONLY those sessions attended in person or in face presence actively participating via Zoom. All the while he helps field questions from both onsite and online between the speakers and attendees, helping discussion move the topics.

Thank you, Tom, for all of your hard work. Your smile and professionalism remind us all that we will always be CVTs and veterinary team members and students, but we can always strive to be more and step in and be a great help with a sleek professional calmness that the speakers relish and the attendees know that you'll handle it all.

Our Annual Fall CE IS THIS WEEKEND!
We still have room if you want to attend. ON SITE registration starts at 7am at the Western Heritage Hotel (formerly the Ramkota) in Casper, WY.
Sessions start at 8am Saturday, September 12 with Melyssa Allen our Well Being Coach and Trainer specializing in health care workers with a special commitment to veterinary care and animal handlers (her career started out at Disney working with dolphins!)

ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING and ELECTIONS is at NOON Saturday - ALL MEMBERS will receive the link to the ZOOM room for this meeting so you can attend (it will be a different room than the CE meetings). Board positions are all open for nominations, we have 2 slots that must be filled, NAVTA Rep, Member-at-Large, and all others are open to nominations for a vote off!

GO Oregon Veterinary Technician and Assistant Association
Title protection is one of the major areas CrVTs (credentialed veterinary technicians) nationwide as well as Certified Veterinary Assistants (i.e through National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America
(NAVTA)'s CVA program wish to be recognized, supported, and utilized for the education and training they have obtained as well as the national testing completed and passed to do the career fields they do in veterinary medicine in support of animal care and welfare as well as community service and public awareness of proper animal care (of all animals, not just dogs and cats).
