Over the years I have been able to support our local police and fire departments and emergency services by returning your state tax dollars back to our community to strengthen public safety.

In the 2026 budget, we passed another $30 million in school safety grants which makes the total investment in school safety since I’ve been elected to over $100 million. I also listened to you and over the years I delivered funding for additional School Resource Officers for Fuquay-Varina elementary schools.

In this budget we passed the largest law enforcement pay raises ever, provided bonuses for local law enforcement, and I was able to secure a $500,000 grant for the Wake County Sheriff’s office.

I’ve been endorsed by the Police Benevolent Association, been named a “Defender of Public Safety” by the NC Sheriffs Association, and endorsed by former Wake Sheriff Donnie Harrison, Former Fuquay-Varina Police Chief Laura Fahnestock and Former Holly Springs Police Chief John Herring.

And as a local small business owner, I am happy to work with our local police in donating bicycles for children in need in our community.

The North Carolina State Board of Elections (NCSBE) will send letters early this week to 1,599 potential non-citizens registered to vote in the state, according to NCSBE spokesman Jason Tyson.

New rules barring DEI offices at NC's 58 community colleges take effect Thursday. The State Board adopted them Sept. 18 over one member's abstention, and colleges have already filed compliance certifications the system office has not released.

A State Board of Education task force wants to stop grading schools on how their students did compared with the rest of the state that year. It would instead measure each student against a target set before the school year, built from that student's own past test scores.

NC school districts reported 2,009 teacher vacancies this fall, down 6.8% and the fewest in at least six years, in the first count since the budget's 8% raise. Total vacancies rose slightly as bus driver and classified openings grew.
