🎃👻 SEPTEMBER RIDDLEY’S ROUNDUP: HALLOWEEN COSTUMES! 👻🎃

Every child deserves to experience the excitement of picking out a Halloween costume, dressing up, and making those sweet childhood memories.

But for families already facing difficult circumstances, a Halloween costume can be one more expense they simply can’t afford.

For the entire month of September, we’re asking our community to help us ROUND UP Halloween costumes for children in foster care, kinship placements, and children experiencing crisis.

🎃 WHAT WE’RE COLLECTING:
• New or gently used Halloween costumes
• Costumes for infants through teens
• Halloween accessories & costume pieces
• New Halloween pajamas

Our goal is simple: we want every child to have something fun to put on and a reason to smile this Halloween. 🥹🧡

Your donation may seem small, but to a child who has already experienced so much, being able to choose a costume and join in the fun can mean so much more than we realize.

Donations can be dropped off at any of our Riddley’s Helping Hands drop-off locations throughout the month of September.

This is more than a donation. It’s a hand up. Together, we can change a child’s story.

💙 PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: Lish Contracting & Lish Foam Insulators 💙

Our founder is Mara Meadows Lish, so when we started looking for places to set up drop-off locations, it was pretty much a given that her husband’s company would become one of our Smith County drop-off locations! 😉

But in all seriousness, Seth Lish & Steven Lish have been some of Riddley’s Helping Hands’ biggest supporters from day one. They’ve cheered us on, helped behind the scenes, and have never hesitated to ask, “What do you need?” And they are currently on the hunt for us a store front in the Smith County area!!

Having your husband & brother in law believe in something you’ve poured your heart into means more than we could ever put into words. 💙

Whitney Mayberry Rich & Mara Meadows Lish had the absolute honor of sitting down with Mrs. Lee & Matt to talk about Riddley’s Helping Hands. 🤍

Not only did they bless us with a generous check, but we left our time together feeling so encouraged, supported, and reminded that what we’re doing matters. Sometimes, that encouragement means just as much as the donation itself.

Through their business, Little Mamas Nursery, they are doing some BIG things to help spread awareness about what adoption truly means — something that is incredibly close to our hearts here at RHH. 🤍

Today, Michelle & Mara took the time to visit all of the Smith County schools to drop off flyers and help spread the word about Riddley’s Helping Hands! 💙

Yes, we are a foster closet—but we are so much more than that. We serve ANY child in need throughout our community. Whether a child is in foster care, living with a kinship family, or simply facing a season where their needs aren’t being met, we want to be there to help.

Teachers often see the needs of children firsthand. Sometimes a family may be too prideful, embarrassed, or unsure of where to turn to ask for help. A teacher can be the person who notices, advocates, and helps connect that child and family with the resources they need. ❤️

We want our local schools to know that Riddley’s Helping Hands is here, and we want to help!

📣 If you know a teacher, school counselor, or school staff member in Smith County, tag them below! Help us spread the word so no child goes without the things they need simply because their family didn’t know where to turn.

One of the things we have been especially thankful for throughout the summer is the opportunity to partner with local organizations. One of the organizations that reached out to us was Exalt Teen & Community KidZ Choir in Smith County, and they went above and beyond!

During their weeklong camp, the kids collected donations for us but they didn’t stop there. They also took the time to make encouraging cards to send along with the donations and raised a monetary donation to help support the children and families we serve. 🥹🤍

Those cards meant just as much to us as the donations themselves. There is something so special about knowing that children took the time to think about other children who may be going through a difficult season and wanted to remind them that they are loved and cared for.

We are so grateful to have organizations like yours right here in our community, helping teach the next generation the gift of giving back, serving others, and showing kindness to those in need. Thank you for believing in what we do and for helping us make a difference in the lives of local children and families. 🤍

Over the next month, as we slowly transition into fall then into winter seasons, I know mamas and caregivers will be going through the children’s closets seeing what they have outgrown and won’t need next summer. As you clean out, please remember Riddley’s Helping Hands as we would love your summer donation clothing to use next year. Most of our winter totes are full but many of our summer still have room left 🤍

We’ve been given some wonderful items, and we want to put them out there for our foster and kinship families to claim. 🥰

If you are a foster or kinship family and see something your family could use, please comment or message us to claim it! First come, first served.

💙 PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: R&M FAMILY PHARMACY 💙

We are so thankful for the local businesses and people who have believed in Riddley’s Helping Hands from the very beginning, and today we’re shining a spotlight on R & M Family Pharmacy in Livingston!

One of our board members, Whitney Mayberry Rich, has worked at R&M Family Pharmacy for the past 10 years. If you’re from Livingston, there’s a good chance you’ve seen her friendly face around town! 😊

When Whitney joined our board, her boss graciously agreed to allow RHH to place a donation drop-off box at their business. We are incredibly grateful for their willingness to partner with us and make it easier for our community to give.

Located right in the heart of Livingston, R&M is also a convenient drop-off point for families coming in from surrounding communities. So whether you’re a Livingston local or already making the drive into town, you can easily drop off your donations while you’re there!

And as a reminder — Riddley’s Helping Hands may be based out of Smith County, but our mission reaches far beyond one county. We serve children and families throughout surrounding communities, including Overton, Pickett, Clay, and beyond.

That means when you donate, you are helping someone right in your own neighborhood.
