The Nevada Police Foundation extends its deepest condolences to the Reno Police Department, as well as the family, friends, and colleagues of Detective Thomas Lope during this tremendous loss. 🕊️💙

Detective Lopey dedicated 13 years of service to the Reno Police Department, serving his community with honor, professionalism, and commitment.

Today, we honor his service, his dedication, and the legacy he leaves behind. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those mourning his passing during this difficult time.

May his memory never be forgotten.

National Police Week honors the courage, sacrifice, and service of law enforcement officers across our nation. 🕊️💙

The observance was established in 1962 when President John F. Kennedy signed a joint resolution of Congress designating May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which it falls as National Police Week. In 1994, legislation was passed directing that the United States flag be flown at half-staff on this day in remembrance of fallen officers.

During this week, we honor, support, and cherish the stories of the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities. Their legacy will never be forgotten.
