Carroll County Outdoor Camp These public safety organizations along with sportsmen’s groups have come together to host the Outdoor Day Camp for the past eleven years.

This camp is hosted by many organizations such as the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Carroll County Fire and Rescue, Carrollton Parks and Recreation, the Sportsmen’s Outreach Program, Carrollton public safety departments, and many others. This camp gives up to 42 youths between the ages of 13 and 16 an opportunity to experience outdoor activities and to l

earn about their environment and safety with fi****ms and boats. The program is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am till 5:00 pm. During this time, the youths receive instruction and have the opportunity to earn their Hunter Education Certificate and Boat Georgia Certificate. It is the goal of the camp to expose students to shooting sports and other outdoor activities. All students are taught how to safely handle fi****ms and how to effectively use them in shooting sports. Students are taught to use the different sights on fi****ms and shoot a variety of fi****ms. Each student will be given the opportunity to operate several types of boats and personal watercraft to demonstrate their knowledge of boating safety as well as the mechanics of operation. Other activities such as instruction on Global Positioning Device (GPS) are given and students are given coordinates to a cache which holds prizes. A live snake demonstration allows students to identify and see both poisonous and non-poisonous snakes up close. The students are taught how to shoot archery and given the opportunity to fish and become proficient with fishing tackle.
