Walk With Me Wednesday 💙

One of the biggest misconceptions about autism is that communication only counts if it’s spoken.

The truth is, communication comes in many forms. A child may point, use gestures, communicate through facial expressions, use an AAC device, repeat familiar phrases (echolalia), or speak in scripts they’ve learned. Every one of these is a meaningful attempt to connect.

As parents, caregivers, educators, and community members, our role isn’t just to listen for words—it’s to recognize communication in all its forms.

When we honor how a child communicates, we’re telling them:
“I see you. I hear you. What you have to say matters.”

💙 Every child deserves to be understood.
💙 Every voice matters, even when it sounds different.

How does your child communicate with you? We’d love to celebrate the many beautiful ways our children connect with the world. Share in the comments! 🧩

The first full week of school is here! And it’s been a reminder that while backpacks are packed and routines begin again, the journey for autism families continues long after the school bell rings.

Our mission has never been about one month, one awareness campaign, or one event.

It’s about being a place where families feel seen.
A place where questions are welcome.
A place where victories—big or small—are celebrated.
A place where no one has to walk this journey alone.

Whether your child had an amazing first day, struggled with the transition, or you’re still finding your rhythm… we’re glad you’re here.

Thank you for walking alongside us as we continue building a more understanding and inclusive community—one family at a time. 💙🧩

🎉 We Made It! Welcome Back to School! 💙💚

The first day of school can bring so many emotions—for our children and for us as parents.

Whether today was filled with smiles, tears, excitement, uncertainty, or a little bit of everything… you made it. And that’s worth celebrating.

Remember:
✨ Every child adjusts differently.
✨ Every family has their own journey.
✨ Every small victory matters.

We’d love to celebrate alongside you!

📸 Share your first-day photos, stories, or even the smallest win in the comments.
Maybe your child walked into school independently.
Maybe they wore a new backpack.
Maybe they simply made it through the morning routine.

Whatever your win looks like—we’re cheering for you. 💙

Here’s to a school year filled with growth, understanding, and moments that remind our families they are never walking this journey alone.

Tomorrow marks the first day of school for so many families—and it also happens to be International Friendship Day. 💙

For some children, making friends comes naturally. For others, especially autistic children, it can take a little more patience, understanding, and kindness.

A simple “Hi.”
An invitation to play.
Saving a seat at lunch.
Choosing inclusion.

Those small moments can make a child feel safe, welcomed, and like they truly belong.

As we kick off a new school year, let’s encourage our children to be the kind of friend who makes someone else’s day a little brighter.

Here’s to a school year filled with kindness, acceptance, and friendships that grow one small moment at a time. 💚

BTS Walk Day 29 🚶🏽‍♀️🎒

Meet the Teacher night can bring excitement… and a lot of nerves.

For many autism families, this isn’t just about finding a classroom. It’s about hoping your child is seen, understood, and supported.

Remember—you don’t have to explain everything tonight. Start the conversation, build the relationship, and know that you’re your child’s greatest advocate.

If you’re heading to Meet the Teacher tonight, I’m cheering you on. 💙💚

School success doesn’t begin at the classroom door—it starts with the little things we do at home. 💙

A consistent bedtime, familiar routines, and open communication can help make those first days feel a little less overwhelming.

Remember: you don’t have to do everything perfectly. Small, intentional steps can make a big difference.

What’s one thing your family is doing this week to prepare for back-to-school?

Preparation is progress. 🌿

Every visual schedule, every practice walk, every backpack packed, every conversation with your child—it all counts.

If no one has told you lately: you’re doing an incredible job preparing for this school year.

Take a moment today to celebrate how far you’ve already come. 💙💚

🤍 Soft Space Sunday | BTS Walk

Before the backpacks are zipped.
Before the lunches are packed.
Before the early alarms return.

Take today to rest.

Back-to-school season can bring excitement, but it can also bring stress, especially for families navigating autism and other unique needs. It’s okay if your “preparation” today looks like slowing down instead of checking another item off your list.

Rest is not falling behind.
Rest is part of getting ready.

Whether you spend today reading a book, taking a nap, enjoying a quiet moment, or simply being present with your family, know that you’re preparing your heart just as much as your calendar.

💙 As a new week begins, may you step into it feeling a little more refreshed, a little more grounded, and reminded that you don’t have to do it all at once.

✨ What is one way you’re choosing to recharge before the busy school season begins?

For many autism families, elopement is a real safety concern. It can happen quickly and for many different reasons, which is why having a plan before an emergency is so important.

A few simple steps can make a big difference:
💙 Keep a recent photo of your child.
💚 Make sure trusted caregivers know your child’s communication style and sensory needs.
💙 Consider identification options that work for your family.
💚 Review your family’s safety plan regularly.

Being prepared isn’t about expecting the worst—it’s about protecting the ones we love.

If this post helps even one family feel more prepared, it’s worth sharing. 💙💚
