Heartland Film Festival begins today. We wanted to highlight, Italian Wannabe, as it makes its Midwest debut at Heartland this week. It’s a documentary about an American chef who loses his wife and restaurant, then returns to a small Italian village in Lazio where they first fell in love with slow living, all in search of a reason to cook again. It's really a story about finding community and how food brings people together.

Saint Francis of Assisi is best known for his radical choice to abandon a life of wealth to live in absolute poverty, his deep love for animals and nature, and his founding of the Franciscan religious orders.

He died at the age of 45, 800 years ago, yet Catholics and non-Catholics still study him and his teachings. Considered radical/crazy by many during his day but his message remains. Find God in nature, live a frugal life, and help the less fortunate including the sick.

The City of Carmel invites members of the media and the community to attend a special street sign dedication honoring Carmel’s international Sister Cities relationships.

Commemorative POW Ceremony at Our Lady’s Chapel in the Meadow at Camp Atterbury, IN

The 37th Annual Mass and commemorative ceremony honoring the more than 3,000 Italian prisoners of war who were interred at Camp Atterbury during World War II, will be held at Our Lady’s Chapel in the Meadow on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Camp Atterbury, 2949 E North St, Franklin, IN 46131.

For logistics and for seating needs, pre-registration is requested by Thursday September 10th, and may be made at the link below. This is an outdoor event, it will be held rain or shine.
