❤️ HELP HANK BEAT HEARTWORM! ❤️

Raising $4,500 for Hank’s heartworm treatment will be a challenge, but it might be easier than explaining to a young Chesapeake that there will be NO swimming, NO running, NO jumping, NO fetch, and NO off-leash adventures! 😂

Hank is a sweet 2-year-old Chessie in California who has completely stolen the hearts of his foster-to-adopt parents. He loves everyone, car rides, belly rubs, walks, swimming, retrieving, big hikes—and those famous morning and evening zoomies!

He has completed a month of antibiotics and is now off Prednisone. His first heartworm-treatment injection is September 21, with follow-up treatments in October. Then comes the really tough part: quiet time and no exercise while he recovers. 😣

Once he is heartworm-free, Hank will also need to be neutered.

Hank is a young, healthy boy with an excellent prognosis and a whole lot of life and adventures ahead of him. ❤️

💙 Duke Is Officially Home! 💙

This video says it all—Duke running through his new backyard with his favorite toy and his new sister. His new family is so happy to make it official, and we couldn’t be happier for them! 🥰🐾

A huge thank you to everyone who supported Duke along the way, especially our amazing donors who helped make his entropion surgery possible. Your generosity truly makes a difference and helps dogs like Duke get the care they need to start their next chapter.

Gunner’s Amazing Progress

We received this wonderful update from Gunner’s adoptive family. ❤️

Gunner is a big, strong Chesapeake who is blind and weighs over 100 pounds. When he joined his family a little over a year ago, it took time for everyone—including their two other big dogs—to adjust.

His family knew Chessies were intelligent, but Gunner has continued to amaze them.

When he arrived, the only directional cue he knew was “Bump!” 😂 His family began teaching him “right” and “left,” and after months of practice, Gunner has learned to follow the direction, not simply the sound of his dad’s voice.

Now either of his parents can guide him using those cues—almost like having an RC dog!

For a blind dog as big and strong as Gunner, knowing where to go can make a huge difference. Before, when he bumped into a truck or sharp edge, all his family could do was warn him with “Bump!” Now he is learning to trust that his people can help him navigate the world.

What an incredible testament to Gunner’s intelligence, his family’s patience, and the trust they have built together. ❤️

Happy Gotcha Day to Chet! ❤️

On August 17, 2025, Chet—formerly Chester—made the long journey from Tucumcari, New Mexico to Arkansas, and it began a love affair that continues today.

This handsome, tall-legged Chesapeake has grown from a dog who didn’t even know how to retrieve a ball into a talented hunting partner doing triple marks and handling blinds out to 150 yards. He’s hoping to run Master Tests this spring!

Chet is gregarious, kind, gentle, and still a little intimidating when he wants to be. 😂 He loves watching hunt tests, field trials and horse racing on TV!

After losing his beloved Finn, Chet came into his life when he needed him most. His wife says Chet saved him—and he feels the same way.

Thank you to CBRR&R and his foster for trusting him with Chet’s well-being. He is truly living his best life! ❤️

Why hasn’t anyone picked me? 🥺❤️

Hi, I’m Polo!

I was left at a shelter, and sometimes I wonder if anyone really wants me. I’m hoping my forever person is out there and just hasn’t found me yet.

I’m a good boy. I listen well. I’m eager to please. And I really, really love my people.

I’m 6 years old—young enough for adventures and mature enough to chill by your side. I’m a true Velcro dog who wants to be with you and be part of whatever you’re doing. I love attention and playing fetch. I’m crate trained, have good house manners, and have a reliable recall.

I’ll be honest about a couple of things. I prefer not to share my people with other dogs, and I can be a little hard-headed and pushy with them. And cats? Well… I like to chase them, so a cat-free home would be best for me.

But I have so much love to give.

I’m in New Mexico, waiting for someone to look past my quirks and see the loyal, loving companion I can be.

Maybe my person is reading this right now.
