Lea County students recently gathered for the latest session of Young Minds, a new class tailored for children learning at a first- and second-grade level.

Led by parent Daisha Hernandez, the session kicked off with a collaborative group review focusing on basic fractions and how to tell time. Afterward, the students split into interactive stations to get hands-on practice with skills like money counting and time-telling. The fun-filled day wrapped up with an engaging storytime session.

We owe these fantastic class concepts to our dedicated parent participants. Thank you for continuously inspiring our yearly activities with such creative and educational ideas!

Lea County just wrapped up another fantastic Kindertime class, beautifully led by parent Daisha Hernandez.

Our little learners kicked off the session with circle time—reviewing their numbers, colors, shapes, and days of the week. They then dove into hands-on phonics and counting stations before wrapping up with a fun storytime.

To keep the momentum going, families took home worksheets to continue learning after class! A huge thank you to the Enrichment Technology Company (ETC) for sponsoring the materials for this session of Kindertime. We appreciate your continued support!

Our Eddy County students recently had the opportunity to participate in a slingshot workshop!

Students built their own slingshots and learned how to safely use them to launch tennis balls. It was a fun, hands-on experience that encouraged creativity, coordination, and learning a new skill!

We love offering unique educational opportunities that allow our students to learn by doing and explore skills they might not encounter in a traditional classroom.

Opportunities like this are made possible through the generous support of New Mexico Children's Foundation. We are grateful for those who invest in alternative education and help us provide memorable learning experiences for our homeschool community!

This past week, our branches in Eddy and Lea Counties came together for an informative tour of CTECH Career and Technical Education Center Hobbs.

It was a wonderful opportunity for our Lea County students to learn more about the programs available and see the possibilities that may be available to them in the future.

We are grateful to CTECH for opening its doors and allowing us to see the amazing program they have created!

Afterward, we took over Space Jump, where the kids had fun and had the opportunity to get to know one another, especially those who had not met before. We were also able to provide lunch for all of our families.

Opportunities like this are made possible through our annual popcorn fundraiser, which helps cover the costs of our social activities. This fundraiser will be coming up next month, and we hope you will support us so we can continue providing opportunities for home-educated students to connect with one another while helping lessen expenses for primarily single-income families.

We are so thankful for the opportunities to learn, grow, and build friendships together!

Twice a month, homeschool students in grades K–12 from across Eddy County come together for Science and Gym classes!

Students are divided into age groups, giving them the opportunity to participate in hands-on science activities, engaging experiments, and fun gym games designed to encourage teamwork, curiosity, and learning.

A special thank you to Marathon Petroleum Corporation for sponsoring our science classes for the 2026–2027 school year!

We are incredibly grateful for local businesses that recognize the value of alternative education and invest in educational opportunities for the children in our community. Their generosity helps us continue providing meaningful, hands-on learning experiences for our students.

Our Lea County families recently participated in an educational tour of the Lea County Communications Authority (911 Center). The students got an incredible inside look at how our local emergency services keep us safe. Throughout the day, they learned about the critical role of Lea County Emergency Services and exactly what key information to provide when calling 911. They met the hard-working 911 dispatchers and saw firsthand how emergency calls are handled from the moment they are answered.

The excitement continued as they viewed Lea County SWAT team equipment and tactical vehicles, met a K-9 officer from the Hobbs Police Department, and received a hands-on CPR demonstration from the Hobbs Fire Department. They also learned how emergency radios operate through the towers and explored the Emergency Management command post and the Emergency Operations Center.

We extend our sincere gratitude to LCCA Director Angela Martinez, the LCCA staff, and all participating agencies and first responders. Thank you for dedicating your time to teach our students critical emergency response skills and highlighting the vital roles each agency plays.

A huge thank you to Stone Elementary Hobbs NM and librarian Pamela Cresswell from our Lea County families! We truly appreciate the opportunity to participate in this season's Book Fair.

Students and their families had a wonderful evening browsing through an amazing selection of books and school supplies. It was a fantastic night of building family memories, community, and celebrating a shared love for reading. We are looking forward to participating in spring! 📚

Our teens took over the movie theater for this month’s Teen Meet! 🍿🎥

Our monthly Teen Meet gives local homeschool teens a chance to get out of the house, spend time with friends, meet new people, and just have FUN together.

Each month brings something different, and this month called for popcorn, a big screen, and a movie with friends! ❤️

Lea County students recently dived into the wonders of the human body during their second Magic School Bus Science class where they focused on the skeletal and muscular systems. Organized by parent Gabby Fiedler alongside parent volunteers Alisa Engan and Cynthia Mendoza, the hands-on course taught students how bones provide structural support, how joints enable flexibility, and how muscle contractions facilitate movement.

To reinforce these concepts, students participated in a series of guided physical exercises exploring joint and body mobility. The session concluded with a practical engineering challenge, where students acted as biomedical engineers to build a functional anatomical hand model using everyday materials.
