North County San Diego Stop Traffic Walk

The North County San Diego Stop Traffic Walk event will raise awareness and funds to help end human trafficking and support survivors.

This program includes the Phoenix Dream Center, StreetLightUSA, and Colorado Dream City Center. Funds will also go to select San Diego human trafficking efforts. The funds raised through this event will help these organizations educate the public on how to identify those at-risk, work in collaboration with law enforcement to rescue trafficked individuals, and give rescued survivors the resources, support, and skills necessary to build a strong and vibrant life.

ATTENTION PARENTS and CAREGIVERS!

We didn't even realize how many apps were out there for predators to use to exploit children.

We are grateful to our friends for sharing this comprehensive yet not exhaustive list of apps that can be easily used by predators to connect with children. New apps are constantly being created.

We need to have open conversations with our kids about how "bad" people try to trick and trap kids. It should NOT be a "gotcha" talk about how they will be in trouble if they make a mistake or get trapped, but one about how you want them to know about this, BECAUSE you trust THEM, but we can't trust people we don't know on these apps.

Create a safe place for them to share if they have made a mistake because they didn't know. Remind them that they can tell you about these things without getting in trouble. Tell them you want to always be honest with them and they with you so that you are going to check out their devices and make sure no "bad guys" get through.

The more we talk about this with intention, love and care, the more equipped and empowered kids can be at making choices that keep them safe.

From our Arizona friends The last time the Super Bowl was hosted in Arizona, over 68 Human Trafficking victims were rescued, with over 600 being arrested in events related to the Super Bowl. This weekend, the world's eyes are on the Super Bowl in Arizona. All the while, victims will secretly be trafficked surrounding the biggest sporting event in America.

The scope and scale of human trafficking is massive!

According to the International Labor Organization the estimated number of people enslaved in some for of human trafficking rose from 40.3
million in 2016 to 46.9 million in 2021! These numbers include s*x and labor trafficking.

We must do better to not only keep ourselves and loved ones safe but to stop driving the demand.

Here we will share information on just two demand factors.

PO*******HY

According to cases reported to the National Human Trafficking Hotline, po*******hy was the 3rd-most common form of s*x trafficking.

P**n dehumanizes, desensitizes and normalizes s*xual exploitation.

P**n is highly addictive and can drive users to move from watching to pursuing real life experiences in order to feed their addiction.

Many s*x trafficking victims are forced to create po*******hy as part of their exploitation.

P**n is used to groom and
children and adult victims. They are “trained” this way.

Our friends
have excellent resources to learn more and find help. is doing amazing work to battle the p**n industry.

LACK OF STRONG CRIMINAL CONSEQUENCES FOR S*X BUYERS

The San Diego Human Trafficking Task Force conducts many demand operations targeting potential s*x buyers.

Over the past 2 years alone hundreds of s*x buyers have been arrested in these sting operations. We are grateful for their efforts!

Unfortunately, when a buyer is caught in a demand operation they are released and issued a fine. These fines are small. Sometimes less than what they were willing to pay to purchase a victim for s*x.

If someone is caught purchasing a minor child the penalties and consequences are much higher but in a demand sting operations they are still small compared to the scope of the crime.

We speak for San Diego here and encourage you to look up the criminal consequences for s*x buying in your own city. You may be surprised to know how small they are.

We encourage you to reach out to law makers to support stronger penalties for s*x buyers.

SAN DIEGO HUMAN TRAFFICKING TASK FORCE faces and fights the evils of human trafficking everyday.

They are the unsung heroes who make a difference to help end human trafficking and rescue victims.

Last week, Operation Century was carried out in Encinitas, National City, San Diego, Santee and other local areas that led to the arrest of 30 s*x buyers.

We are passionate about prevention and this is one way law enforcement works hard at it. There is more we as citizens can do too.

We are always eager to share opportunities with others to learn more about human trafficking. There is a great one coming to a theater near you!

On November 3rd will be releasing its powerful documentary "It's happening Right Here" in theaters around the US.

It’s Happening Right Here unveils the truth that s*x trafficking can happen in every community in the U.S.. Awareness about online grooming, s*xtortion, and trafficking, along with preventative tools, are examined through interviews with law enforcement, technology experts, and survivors. Despite the darkness of this crime, hope can be found in the organizations fighting to end trafficking and those sharing their experiences to protect others.

DID YOU KNOW⁉️

Human trafficking can be hidden in plain sight. Your friend, neighbor, co-worker, student, or family member could be in a trafficking situation.

If you see something, say something to the authorities who are experts in how to address this. Please be careful. These are dangerous situations that can put you and the person be trafficked in harms way.

Report emergencies to 911 and immediately notify the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888 or text them at 233733.
