📚 WEST VIRGINIA FAMILIES: TWO SEPARATE OPPORTUNITIES TO SAVE THIS SCHOOL YEAR
As back-to-school shopping begins, I wanted to share an important reminder because there are two different programs available, and they are often confused with one another.
1️⃣ West Virginia Sales Tax Holiday
(Available to all shoppers purchasing qualifying items in West Virginia.)
This program is available to all shoppers purchasing qualifying items during the West Virginia Sales Tax Holiday.
✔ No application is required.
✔ You do not have to ask for the tax exemption.
✔ If your purchase qualifies, the sales tax is automatically removed at checkout.
2️⃣ West Virginia School Clothing Allowance
(Income-Based Program)
This is a separate program administered by the West Virginia Department of Human Services.
✔ An application is required.
✔ Families must meet income and eligibility requirements.
✔ Eligible children may receive financial assistance to help purchase school clothing.
The attached handout explains both programs side-by-side so you can quickly determine which opportunities may benefit your family.
I hope this information helps make back-to-school shopping a little easier for West Virginia families.
If you know a parent, grandparent, teacher, or guardian, please SHARE this post so they don’t miss these opportunities.
Thank you,
