Who Benefits from the Van Zandt First Responders Fund?

Since the Van Zandt First Responders Fund was established in 2018, the fund has supported a wide range of local first responders across Van Zandt County.

Past donations and support include:
• Equipment donations to local Game Wardens
• Canton Police Department equipment and a K-9 bite suit
• A K-9 bite suit for the Wills Point Police Department
• Two monetary donations to first responders in need
• Snacks and drinks delivered to county first responders with the help of community donations

Most recently, in 2024, the fund recognized a need within the Myrtle Springs Volunteer Fire Department. After connecting with department leadership, it was clear that support was needed to help the department continue serving the community. The Van Zandt First Responders Fund was able to make a donation to assist with those efforts.

💙 Why this matters: when our local first responders have the support they need, our entire community is safer and stronger. This fund exists to ensure those who serve Van Zandt County know they are supported—both in their work and in times of need.

The Van Zandt First Responders Fund was established to assist Van Zandt County first responders and their local departments by helping provide equipment or funding for equipment needed to serve our community in the most effective way possible.

While most departments do operate with a budget, much of the equipment required is costly and not always included in current funding. This fund was created with that reality in mind—to help fill the gaps and support departments when needs arise.

The fund also sets aside a portion of monetary donations to assist in the event a first responder is injured in the line of duty. These funds may be provided to the family if assistance is needed.

In addition, the fund can help first responders who experience an immediate need for support due to a tragic event or other unforeseen circumstances while serving Van Zandt County.

📌 Throughout the year, we host several fundraisers to help support and grow this fund. Tickets for our largest fundraiser of the year—the Mommy & Me and Daddy & Me Dances-- are on sale now! Welcome to Van Zandt First Responders Fund page!

The Fund was established in 2018 to help support the men and women who do so much to support our community. The mission of the Van Zandt First Responders Fund is to provide necessary assistance to the County’s First Responders when tragedy strikes or extreme family needs arise and to help supplement unfunded equipment purchases to add safety and effectiveness to the operations of agencies within the County.

Over the last 7 years, we have hosted several exciting fundraising opportunities to help fund our mission, including First Responders' Days, BBQ Competitions, Jr. Firefighter Day Camps, Mommy & Me/Daddy & Me Dances, and food/beverage donations. Thank you to our community for your continuous support!
