At Cherokee Friends of Recovery, we believe recovery is possible, help is available, and no one should have to walk through difficult seasons alone.

Throughout September, weโ€™ll be sharing resources, encouragement, recovery stories, community connections, and information that can help make a difference.

Whether you are in recovery, supporting someone you love, working in the recovery community, or simply choosing to be a source of encouragement โ€” you are part of creating a community where people can find hope and healing. ๐Ÿฉต

Hereโ€™s to a month of celebrating recovery, starting conversations, reducing stigma, and reminding one another that there is always hope. ๐Ÿฉท

Everyone deserves a path to recovery. Reentry programs that connect people to housing, counseling, peer support, and community resources help build pathways to recovery and a brighter future.

Our team had the opportunity to visit Cherokee High School this week alongside Cherokee County Probation to speak with students about our professions and the career opportunities available within our respective agencies.

We always enjoy visiting local high schools and engaging with young adults to share our experiences, answer questions, and introduce them to potential career paths in public service.

Thank you to Cherokee High School for having us! We truly appreciate the opportunity to connect with the students and share what we do.

Value of Veterans - Employment in Geogia

Have you ever thought how many Georgia businesses are started by Veterans, or how many people Veteran owned businesses hire and provide jobs for. Not that any of our elected officials at the local, state, and Federal know this, but just in Cherokee County the last Census noted that there are over 300 Veteran owned businesses in the county. As I mentioned after my comments with a state representative, it is time that we put a value on what Veterans do for this state. Please find our new Veteran employment flier that we created pulling data from multiple sites.

Next time you run into a Veteran don't just say, "thanks for your service' , but maybe "thank you for hiring me and helping me afford a house and feed my family."

Today, on International Overdose Awareness Day, we remember the people weโ€™ve lost and stand with the families, friends, and communities carrying that loss.

But remembrance also calls us to action.

Every life is worth saving. Recovery is real. And stigma has no place in the way we respond to people who need support.
25 years on, this day is still needed. And so is the work to make sure more people have the chance to recover, heal, and live.

๐Ÿ’œ Remember. Act. Recover.

On Saturday, September 12, the Georgia Recovers Bus Tour will stop at No Longer Bound for a proclamation stop recognizing recovery and the people and organizations helping make it possible every day.

๐Ÿ“… Saturday, September 12
โฐ 10:00โ€“10:45 AM
๐Ÿ“ No Longer Bound
2725 Pine Grove Rd., Cu***ng, GA

No Longer Bound has spent decades helping men find freedom from addiction and build new lives in recovery. Weโ€™re excited to visit their campus, connect with their team and residents, and join together with community leaders to officially recognize the importance of recovery in our communities.

Every proclamation along this journey sends a message: recovery is happening, recovery deserves to be celebrated, and our communities are stronger when we support it.

See you September 12! ๐ŸšŒ๐Ÿ’œ
