We are so proud of Ms Aleck. She has earned a Cherokee County Educational Foundation Grant. This grant will be utilized to support the morning Book Buddies program. In Book Buddies, teachers and volunteers work with students on reading, providing additional opportunities for students to read to an adult, building fluency and confidence in their reading! Way to go Ms. Aleck!

🦅Eagle shout out time: These amazing teachers were awarded CCEF grants to support student learning. 🎉

Art teacher April Lammers, is using her Impact grant to support a guest artist visit about making pottery.

Kali Johnson, our science lab teacher, is using her Rapid grant to support building a science literacy collection for students.

We are excited to celebrate Ms. Cooper for receiving a Rapid Grant from the Cherokee County Educational Foundation! These funds will help our first-grade teachers improve their Student-Led Conference notebooks and purchase UFLI magnetic letter boards to provide engaging, hands-on literacy practice. We are so grateful for CCEF for investing in our students and teachers! 📚🔤

We are excited to celebrate Mrs. Caitlin Lyons, recipient of a $2,000 CCEF Classroom Impact Grant from the Cherokee County Education Foundation! 🎉

Mrs. Lyons’ innovative grant will help build a collection of dyslexia-friendly and bilingual books, giving more Avery students access to texts that are welcoming, accessible, and designed to help every reader experience success.

Dr. Lisa Turner shared:

“This grant is a wonderful example of what happens when a teacher sees a student need and turns it into an opportunity. Caitlin’s vision reflects our commitment to making sure every child has access to meaningful, engaging texts and feels represented and supported as a reader.”

Mrs. Lyons added:

“I am incredibly grateful to the Cherokee County Education Foundation for investing in our students and making this collection possible. These dyslexia-friendly and bilingual books will help us reach more readers, remove barriers, and give students books they can access with greater confidence and joy.”

Thank you, CCEF, for continuing to invest in teachers, inspire students, and make innovative ideas possible in our classrooms. We cannot wait to see these books in the hands of our Avery Cubs! 💙💚

We are excited to celebrate our school counselor, Ms. Weaver, on receiving a Cherokee County Educational Foundation Rapid Grant! The grant will provide materials to create a student self-regulation space, giving students a supportive environment to practice calming strategies, build self-awareness, and develop skills for managing emotions and successfully returning to learning.
