Practical Beekeeping 2026

Want to learn to keep honeybees alive? Want to learn how to evaluate hive
information? Want to get good and complete information for our area?
The Cherokee Beekeepers Club and local beekeepers (Jason Segers, and BJ Weeks) are hosting a multi-evening course on beekeeping for beginning beekeepers. The course will cover starting, building equipment, understanding bee pests, medications, strategies for keeping bees, producing, and extracting honey. A strong emphasis will be on understanding the bees and processes involved. The class will finish with a daytime hands-on workshop in the bees. This is a class for beginners who wish to understand and start keeping honeybees. The class is an annual event started in 1997. Understanding the motivations of the bees enables us to continue learning and effectively work with the bees. Bees may be ordered during class for spring 2026.

Classes will be held at Amicalola EMC 544 Hwy 515 South Jasper, GA 30143.
