Many survivors have voiced that they did not believe they were experiencing abuse because of the lack of education surrounding domestic violence and the different tactics used against a victim to maintain power and control over them.
MYTH: Many people insist that if your partner is not physically violent, then no abuse has occurred.
FACT: Emotional abuse IS abuse; they don't leave marks, but the cost is equally as high.
To learn more, please call our hotline at (315)379-9845.

Emotional abuse can affect a person’s confidence, self-worth and emotional well-being over time.

If any of these warning signs feel familiar, know that you do not deserve to be treated that way, and you are not alone. Recognizing that a relationship may be unhealthy can feel overwhelming, and deciding what to do next is not always easy.

Connecting with a trusted friend, family member or support system can help. Our advocates are also available 24/7 to talk through your situation, explore options, and help support you on your path forward.

We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the Seaway Festival Queens for their incredible donation of hygiene products! Together, the Queens collected 3,000 items for our agency. Providing hygiene products to survivors helps them remember that they can start over on their own with the resources available to them in our community. By donating to Renewal House, you reinforce this idea to them.
With this being said, we are no longer accepting hygiene donations! We physically do not have the space for anymore (to which we are so incredibly thankful for all who have taken the time to purchase donations for our agency). On behalf of staff, volunteers and interns, board members, and most importantly- the individuals who we serve every single day, THANK YOU!

Today is National Gun Violence Awareness Day and the first day of Everytown for Gun Safety's Weekend. 🧡

Every day in the United States, nearly 130 people are shot and killed. Many of them are domestic violence victims whose abusers have chosen to use guns to hurt them.

For many abusers, killing a partner is the ultimate act of power and control, and access to guns makes this possible.

Nobody ever deserves to live in fear of a partner with a gun. NNEDV is committed to advancing common-sense legislation to keep guns away from abusers and to keep victims safe.

May is . 🏠 For domestic violence survivors, having access to safe, affordable housing can save their lives.

Unfortunately, a lack of housing options across the country means that survivors are often faced with impossible choices between abuse and homelessness.

Federal funding supports housing for survivors, but ongoing delays to this funding put survivors in danger. Take action NOW and tell Congress to address these dangerous funding delays: https://buff.ly/OyFNQiN

Today is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives (MMIWR). There is a deep connection between domestic violence, sexual violence, and the high incidence of MMIWR - studies have found that 4 in 5 American Indian and Alaska Native women have experienced violence in their lifetime, with 56.1% of those experiencing sexual violence.
