Did you know, Stark County's rate of unintentional overdose deaths among African Americans is over 3X greater than other groups? The H.O.P.E. Coalition and our African American faith leaders are working to connect with families who have experienced a loss due to overdose. We invite those who have been impacted to visit our Canton Outreach Linktree (https://linktr.ee/cantonoutreach) and complete the "HOPE for the Holidays" survey to be contacted about H.O.P.E.'s upcoming December remembrance event. We are accepting applications for a full time Overdose Prevention Outreach Specialist. The ideal candidate is a productive member of the recovery community, capable of using first-hand experience to both identify with and advocate for those who are at risk of overdose due to drug use. This position requires cultural competency skills, as the role will serve people who use drugs from different geographic, racial, religious and cultural backgrounds. All applicants will undergo a background check; however, a criminal record does not automatically exclude a candidate from interview or hire. All interviewed will have an opportunity to discuss their background.
