Scenes around the barn. 💕

There is a distinct kind of magic at the rescue after hours.

Alan is one of our wonderful volunteers who loves stopping by once the evening rush is over, the horses are fed, and everyone is settling in for the night.

That soft, late afternoon sunlight fading into twilight makes for the most beautiful pictures. ✨🌾

What is with this new trend of breakfast in bed? 🛏️🌾

I swear Shorty started this lazy movement and now Becca is just shamelessly copying his content.

And before the comment section blows up: yes, we know Becca’s got some extra "cushion.” But believe it or not, she’s actually on a diet right now and looking more like a pony than a bowling ball.

That side-eye though! 👀😂😂🤣

Prime is just as sweet as he is handsome. 💕

At only 4 years old, he’s still very much a baby. He continues to have some soreness in his hind end, so we’re taking things slowly and focusing on groundwork while he matures and builds strength.

I’ll post his body work evaluation for our new followers in the comments and see why he was pulled from being a candidate for the Trainers Challenge.

We believe that with time, patience, and the right support, he’ll be ready to begin training under saddle.

For now, he’s enjoying weekly MagnaWave sessions, plenty of grooming, and lots of attention from our volunteers. His kind personality and love of people have made him a barn favorite. ❤️🐴

We are so grateful to Colby and her young riders for helping put valuable miles on Magic Mike and Ivar. ❤️

Getting a horse truly ready for adoption takes time, consistency, and experience. Every ride helps build their confidence, education, and future success.

These two are currently in training with Colby in La Grange, Kentucky and are available to approved homes.

We do require that you test ride the horse to make sure it’s the right fit. Also, you must be approved applicant to schedule an appointment.

Look who’s all grown up and looking amazing!💕

We truly couldn’t do this without our incredible network of horse people. A huge thank you to Babbie for fostering some of our harder-to-place babies and ponies and for helping BJ find such a wonderful home.

Recently, more than one person has told me they follow our page because we’re drama-free and realistic in our rescue efforts. I think that’s because so many of our followers are genuine horse people. They understand what we do, why training matters, and why we’re so careful about where our horses end up. Thanks for following and sharing our page, it means more than you know. 💕

We work extra hard making sure we match the horse with the right home. That’s why seeing BJ thriving in his new home means so much.

His mom and dad, Laney and Brady, were strays we picked up in 2024. Whatever abuse, neglect, or mistreatment they experienced before coming to us has been a challenging hurdle to overcome.

They are still in training - they are still not ready for adoption. Horses like these can take years to finally turn the corner. Every small step forward is earned through patience, consistency, and trust.

If you grew up on 80s rock, you already know how this ends… 📼🤘😎

The funniest part is Jeff’s advice to Malibu at the end:

“Malibu, why don’t you play hard to get like Lady?” 😂

The crazy thing? That actually works on Loki. 🤣🤦‍♀️

Mocha and Latte, the Rankin County strays, made it to the rescue yesterday. 💕

Most people are shocked to learn that horses are abandoned just like cats and dogs.

The difference is that a stray horse can be a serious public safety risk. Horses can cause devastating vehicle accidents, destroy property, tear up lawns, trample crops, and create thousands of dollars in damage.

And stray horses are often much harder to help than wild horses.

They carry baggage. Fear. Trauma. A history so bad that someone chose to turn them loose rather than give them away, sell them, or ask for help.

A wild horse simply doesn’t know people.

An abused horse knows people all too well.

Trainer Patrick Munday evaluated them for us, and the older mare, Mocha, promptly bit him. 🤦‍♀️ Not because she was mean, but because she wasn’t sure what he wanted. Once she realized he wasn’t there to hurt her, she became easy to handle. A good sign that she’ll be easier to turn around than first expected.

The younger mare is much more fearful. She probably hasn’t had a lot of handling and what she has experienced must have been pretty bad. She will need to be a long term project for someone who has lots of patience.

Their dedicated foster mom spent weeks helping them gain weight and to trust. It still took us an hour in the hot sun to get them loaded. It’s hurts your heart to see horses this fearful — but we’ll continue to help them to become trusting and confident horses in no time.

It’s frustrating that our veterinarians, technicians, farriers, trainers, and volunteers are the ones left assuming the risk when working with horses like these. Risk that never should have been theirs to carry in the first place. All because someone decided it was easier to turn a horse loose and walk away than to take responsibility for the liability they created.

Giving horses a second chance takes an entire team willing to do the hard work and we are so grateful for our village. Be sure to stay tuned for more on these two.

We shared a video of the behind-the-scenes of their loading and veterinary evaluation yesterday on our private subscriber page. If you’d like to see more of the real, behind-the-scenes work that goes into helping horses like these, subscribe and follow along. Your support helps make this work possible. ❤️

“What’s going on? Where’s the p**p?!”

Thanks to Mack, our paddocks are so clean that volunteers had to search the main pasture for their bi-weekly p**p patrol. 😂

A single horse can leave 10–15 piles a day, so manure management plays a big role in keeping horses healthy, reducing parasites, and keeping flies under control.

Tuesdays and Fridays are volunteer days at the rescue. Helping with barn chores, grooming, exercising horses — and yes, p**p patrol — is a rite of passage for everyone who joins our team.

It may not be the most glamorous job, but it’s one of the most important. Glad to know it’s Melissa’s favorite thing to do. 😂

Stay tuned to meet Mack, our pasture-cleaning superstar. 💕

💙 HELP MANOLITO TAKE THE NEXT STEP TOWARD HIS FOREVER HOME 💙

When the Florida 10 Paso Finos arrived from a Marion County Sheriff's Department neglect seizure, most people immediately worried about the thin horses with dull coats and visible signs of hardship.

Not Manolito. At first glance, he appeared to be the healthiest of the group. He was shiny. He was fat. He looked well-fed. But looks can be deceiving.

A closer evaluation revealed the truth. Manolito's hard, cresty neck and abnormal fat deposits were classic signs of insulin resistance. Even more concerning, a physical examination uncovered significant soreness and pain throughout his body, including his sternum, back, and hips.

Suddenly, his grumpy, unfriendly attitude made perfect sense.

While the other Paso Finos quickly moved on to foster homes and training programs, Manolito stayed behind at the rescue. Since his arrival in early April, he has been on a carefully managed diet, receiving Sugar Rescue supplementation, chiropractic care, and body work to help him recover from years of physical discomfort.

The transformation has been remarkable. The weight is coming off. The soreness is fading. And perhaps most importantly, the horse underneath is beginning to shine through.

Today, the once-grumpy gelding is approaching people for attention and affection. He is brighter, happier, and feeling better than he has in years.

Now he's ready for the next chapter.

Before we can place Manolito in the right adoptive home, he needs a 30-day professional evaluation with an experienced Paso Fino trainer. This evaluation will help us determine what training he already has, assess his potential, and create a roadmap for any additional training he may need before adoption.

The cost of this evaluation is $1,000.

Will you help us get him there?

Every donation—large or small—helps move Manolito one step closer to becoming someone's treasured partner instead of just another horse from a neglect case.

Together, we've helped him regain his health. Now let's help him discover his future.

If you'd like to sponsor part of Manolito's evaluation, donate today or share this post with your friends and fellow horse lovers. ❤️
