Our Story
The organization aims to help improve the infrastructure of government schools and provide partial scholarships for higher education to empower underprivileged students of rural communities in Nepal. Literacy For Nepal (LFN) intends to be a staple organization for educational development and opportunities within rural Nepal, building bridges between individuals from all over the world to a universal goal of awareness, understanding, and inspiration for an ever-growing interdependent global society, and specially for Nepali youth that will no longer be restrained from applying their brilliant minds. Literacy For Nepal (LFN) helped create a library in Nichuta, Parsa district and the library started operating since August 2010. It is fully furnished with books, magazines, newspapers and sports equipment. The library also has a full time local staff to manage the library. The library is also a meeting place for local youth groups, committees and women's organizations to convene. The organization is also sponsoring 10 underprivileged students in the village. Literacy For Nepal (LFN) also started a high school in Pakhna-Mainpur, Parsa district. About 80 percent of the students who appeared in SLC last year passed the exam from this school. However, they had no means to go to urban areas to get their high school diplomas, especially girls. Literacy For Nepal (LFN) donated Two Hundred Thousands (Rs. 200,000) to the school to obtain the license to run a high school. Now that they have a high school, the students will be in school for another two years which will help them exploit their potential.
