Kids Can't Fight Cancer Alone #kcfca Meeting the needs of families facing pediatric cancer in Bradford, Sullivan and Tioga County of Penns

KCFCA was founded through the passion of two local moms, and they shared one big thing in common ,both have children who have gone through the journey of childhood cancer. An organization that is funded through experience and passion to assist local families of the Bradford, Tioga and Sullivan counties who are also going through a diagnosis of Childhood Cancer. KCFCA has hopes of easing burdens th

at you may face in the event of being faced with childhood cancer, while offering emotional support of members who have experienced this as a parent, as the child, and as community members full of passion and recourses. While we hope that you will never need an organization like KCFCA, globally 300,000 children under the age of 20 will be diagnosed with childhood cancer a year, and we hope to make a difference in those families that we can reach.

Yesterday marked Day +35 post-transplant for one of our Kids Can’t Fight Cancer Alone kiddos, Zane. 💛
We’re excited to share that Zane reached a huge milestone and was able to leave the hospital at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia!
While this is wonderful news, his journey is not over yet. Zane and his family must remain in the Philadelphia area for at least 70 more days so his medical team can continue to closely monitor his recovery and ensure his body is healing well after transplant.
We are so grateful for this progress and for everyone who has continued to pray for, encourage, and support Zane and his family throughout this journey.
Please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate the next phase of recovery. We’re believing for continued healing, strength, and many more milestones ahead.
Thank you to everyone who continues to love and support our KCFCA families. It truly means more than words can say. 💛

Huge apologies…. We accidentally deleted the original post 🤦‍♀️

Every year, we ask our community to come out and donate blood. Every year, this community shows up in ways that leave us humbled and grateful.

But I think sometimes people see a blood drive flyer and don’t realize the reason behind it.

As parents who have walked the childhood cancer journey ourselves, we’ve sat beside hospital beds and watched our children rely on blood products to keep fighting. We’ve celebrated transfusions that gave them the strength to continue treatment, and we’ve witnessed firsthand how a donation from a complete stranger can become a lifeline for a family facing the unimaginable.

When a child is battling cancer, blood products aren’t a “just in case” treatment. They’re often essential to survival.

Throughout treatment, many children need blood transfusions and platelet transfusions simply to keep going. To receive chemotherapy. To recover from surgery. To fight infections. To have enough strength to face another day.

For many families, those donations from complete strangers become one of the reasons their child gets to come home.

This year’s Memorial Blood Drive is especially meaningful because we are honoring three children who will forever be part of the Kids Can’t Fight Cancer Alone family:

💛 Ariah Cook
💛 Kennsley Middlecamp
💛 Alexander Zdon

These children changed us. They reminded us what courage looks like. They taught us to celebrate the good days, fight through the hard days, and love fiercely through all of it.

While we wish they were still here, we can continue to honor them in a way that truly makes a difference.

By helping the next child.

By helping the next family.

By giving a gift that cannot be bought, manufactured, or replaced.

We’re not asking you to donate blood because we need to fill appointment slots. We’re asking because somewhere, right now, a child is depending on a donation that hasn’t been made yet.

📅 Monday, July 27, 2026
🕐 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM
📍 Athens High School Cafeteria

And if donating isn’t an option for you, please help us spread the word by sharing this post. Every share helps us reach more people, and more people means more potential donors. You never know who might see it and decide to roll up their sleeve because of your share.

For Ariah.
For Kennsley.
For Alexander.

And for every child still fighting.

Because kids can’t fight cancer alone. And neither can the families who love them. 💛

Today is National Cancer Survivors Day.

As an organization founded by parents who have walked the childhood cancer journey, this day brings a mix of emotions.

Today, we celebrate the incredible children who have beaten the odds. The children who rang the bell. The children who are years into survivorship. The children who are learning to live beyond cancer while carrying the scars—both visible and invisible—of everything they endured.

We celebrate them. We honor them. We cheer for them.

But today, we also hold space for the families whose children did not survive.

Because in the childhood cancer community, survivorship looks different for every family.

For some, it means celebrating clean scans and milestones. For others, it means carrying the memory of a child who should still be here. It means honoring birthdays in heaven, visiting cemeteries instead of ball fields, and finding ways to keep their child's legacy alive.

To those families, please know that your children are not forgotten today. They are forever a part of this community and forever a part of our hearts.

At Kids Can't Fight Cancer Alone, we have had the privilege of celebrating victories with families, but we have also stood beside families during unimaginable loss. Both journeys matter. Both deserve to be recognized.

Today, we celebrate every survivor. We celebrate every family still fighting. And we remember every child whose fight ended too soon.

Childhood cancer changes a family forever. Whether your child is thriving, currently in treatment, or watching over you from above, you are part of this community, and your story matters.

Today and every day, we stand with you

Unfortunately this is extremely accurate

June is Cancer Survivors Month.

For childhood cancer survivors, survival is not always the end of the story.

Many survivors live with a lifelong question:

“Will the other shoe drop?”

Today’s children are beating cancer at higher rates than ever before. The 5-year survival rate for pediatric cancers has increased from about 63% in the 1970s to approximately 87% today.

But survival often comes with a cost.

Childhood Cancer Survivor Facts

🎗️ 60–90% of childhood cancer survivors develop at least one chronic health condition later in life.

🎗️ 20–80% experience severe or life-threatening late effects during adulthood.

🎗️ Nearly all survivors may develop significant treatment-related health problems by age 45.

🎗️ Childhood cancer survivors are at increased risk for:

* Secondary cancers
* Heart disease
* Stroke
* Endocrine disorders
* Infertility
* Cognitive and learning challenges
* Hearing loss
* Chronic kidney disease
* Mental health struggles

🎗️ By age 65, survivors are projected to develop serious age-related diseases nearly 18 years earlier than the general population.

Why This Matters

A childhood cancer survivor doesn’t simply “move on” after treatment ends.

Survivorship means lifelong monitoring, follow-up care, advocacy, and support. It means living with uncertainty while choosing hope every day.

At Kids Can’t Fight Cancer Alone, we honor not only the children fighting cancer today, but also the survivors carrying invisible scars long after treatment ends.

They survived cancer.

Now let’s help them thrive.

Brynlee’s mom shared the good news with us so we asked if we could share with all of you

“Brynlee’s Dr called with her bone marrow & spinal tap results!
Brynlee is in full remission 😭🎗️❤️
No new evidence
No need for a bone marrow transplant
Her bone marrow was 74 % of cancer when we arrived, it is now down to .02 he would like it down to .01 but this is all great news!!

🎗️With that being said we still have a long road ahead of us with the continuing of chemo the next few months, so continue with the prayers I believe they are working! Thank you all for your support through this, couldn’t have done it without you all!! 😭😭”

And this picture was taken today 🥰
