The Heritage Chapel
THE HERITAGE CHAPEL PROJECT
In July of 1992 the Grace Bible Fellowship Baptist Church was organized. Shortly after that organizational meeting the congregation purchased five acres of choice property from Mr Howard Buck. The members met under a greenhouse canopy for a few weeks until a single wide mobile home was purchased and used for services. After a few months the church was given opportunity to buy a little white church building which Jackson Missionary Baptist Church had outgrown and was ready to move from their property in the Jackson Community near Canton. This building became our first permanent auditorium building where we met for worship for over 15 years. Records show that we baptized over a thousand people during those 15 years as countless souls where saved through the evangelistic efforts of our church program and family. Memories of years past recall annual revival meetings where the building was completely full and folks were standing outside the open windows and on the front porch hearing the sound of old time singing and preaching.
Over the last few years, after the congregation moved into their new 6,000 sq ft sanctuary, the “little white church” served as home to our Spanish Church and later as home to Manna Food Bank. After both ministries left the facility it was neglected and fell into much disrepair.
Only recently Pastor Dan Tarno has issued a call to the Leadership Board and Members of Grace Bible Fellowship Baptist Church to renovate, reclaim and restore the “Little White Church” and to make it a truly functional and beautiful venue for varied uses including receptions, reunions, baby or bridal showers and fellowships. This will include a new “State of the Art” kitchen, serving counters, and all new restroom facilities with showers which will equip the building for use as a temporary shelter following community disasters.
Because this building represents the birth and beginnings of our church, we are officially re-naming it THE HERITAGE CHAPEL.
The members of Grace Bible Fellowship are excited to be giving of their time, talents and finances to fund what we are calling THE HERITAGE CHAPEL PROJECT. If you would like to help us achieve this goal feel free to let us know how you would like to participate. There will be several fund raisers in the coming months to complete this endeavor. Thanks..and May the Lord Bless you……
