Homelessness doesn't happen overnight. For many people, it's the result of circumstances that slowly pile up until there are no options left.

A crisis.
A setback.
A season of hardship.

More often than not, it's the result of a series of circumstances that become impossible to overcome alone. A lost job. A medical emergency. A sudden rent increase. A family crisis. The loss of a support system.

While every story is different, one thing remains true:
Every person experiencing homelessness is still a person.

A person with a story.
A person with dreams.
A person with value.
A person deserving of dignity and compassion.

At About My Father's Business, we believe meaningful change begins when we choose understanding over assumptions and compassion over judgment.

Because homelessness is not someone's identity. It's a circumstance. And every circumstance deserves to be met with humanity, respect, and hope. 💛

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2

This is why we show up. 💛

For the moments that can't be measured.

The moments that happen after a care package is handed over.
The moments when a tired face softens into a smile.
The moments when someone realizes they haven't been forgotten.

Did you notice that one gentleman's expression completely changed as he received his care package?! What began as a serious look became a sweet smile. That's what this work is all about.

Yes, the food matters.
Yes, the water matters.
Yes, the hygiene supplies matter.

But so does the reminder that someone sees you, cares, and believes your life has value. Every outreach is an opportunity to offer more than resources. It's an opportunity to offer dignity, connection, encouragement, and HOPE.

Thank you to every Hope Dealer, volunteer, donor, and partner who helps make moments like these possible. Because sometimes the most powerful thing we give isn't what's inside the bag. It's the message behind it:

💛 You matter.
💛 You are seen.
💛 You are not forgotten.

160 outreach bags! 💛

That means 160 opportunities to provide food, hygiene supplies, encouragement, and dignity to our unhoused neighbors throughout the community.

But NONE of this happens alone. This past weekend, incredible volunteers came together to sort supplies, pack bags, organize donations, and prepare for outreach with compassion and purpose.

To every volunteer who gave their time, energy, heart, and hands this weekend, WE THANK YOU!

You are the reason this mission continues moving forward. ❤️

And the truth is…there’s always room for more Hope Dealers. If you’ve been looking for a way to make a tangible difference in your community, we’d love for you to join us.

Because hope looks like people showing up together.

SPECIAL THANK YOU to Hillary Cohen of for these incredible donations!

At first glance, these may look like simple supplies

Cases of water. Toothbrushes. Floss. Face masks. Snacks. Sanitary products. Reusable bags.

But to someone experiencing homelessness?

💧 Water can mean relief in the Southern California heat.
🪥 Hygiene items help restore dignity and confidence.
🩸 Feminine hygiene products are often one of the most overlooked needs.
🍎 Snacks may become someone’s next meal.
🛍️ Reusable bags help carry the few belongings they have.

This is why donations matter and we are so grateful to our partners who give so generously.

Because every item becomes an act of care, every donation becomes outreach, and every gift becomes hope in action. 💛

Honoring Our Partner: St. Paul’s UMC Tarzana

At About My Father’s Business, we often say this mission is community-driven and few partnerships reflect that more beautifully than our friends at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church of Tarzana — “The Beacon of the Valley.” Their campus is a true hub of community impact, hosting our hygiene kit assemblies, Pop-up Resource Fairs, outreach prep days and so much more.

💛 The People Behind the Partnership

What makes this bond so meaningful is the incredible heart of its people:
- Pastor Vernon Kemp: Who has literally be seen running down the street, socks and water in hand, ensuring our unhoused neighbors are cared for.

- Ginny: Who beautifully bridged our community by connecting AMFB with the First UMC of Reseda shower program.

- Linda & Terry: Linda’s servant heart shines in her willingness to handle any task (even cutting endless cardboard!), while Terry always finds a way to fix, build, or organize whatever we need.

- Faithful Volunteers: Patrick & Ellie, Robyn, Sumit & Irene, Jacqueline, Cathy, Nathan, Abraham, Afsatu, Pattye, and so many others who show up to pack kits, prep events, and step directly into the field to serve beside us providing outreach to our unhoused neighbors.

💛 Love in Action
St. Paul’s consistently chooses compassion over convenience. Beyond their work with AMFB, they serve the wider community by hosting voting centers, health fairs, and safe spaces for connection. They don't just talk about service; they walk alongside the overlooked with dignity and care.

💛 To Pastor Vernon and the entire St. Paul’s UMC family:
Thank you for believing in this work, for your boundless generosity, and for your unwavering partnership. We are deeply grateful to serve alongside you.

You truly are a beacon in the Valley. 💛

Homelessness does not erase humanity. It does not erase worth. It does not erase voice.

Behind every tent, every backpack, every care kit, every outreach stop is a person with a story, hopes, fears, memories, talents, and a life that still matters.

At About My Father’s Business, we believe our unhoused neighbors deserve more than survival.

They deserve dignity.
They deserve respect.
They deserve to be seen.
They deserve representation.
And yes, they deserve a seat at the table.

One of Pastor Kathy’s greatest passions is ensuring that those experiencing homelessness are not just served…but listened to. Their voices matter in conversations about the support, resources, and solutions that impact their lives.

Because meaningful change starts by seeing people as people.

This work is about more than meals and hygiene kits. It’s about restoring dignity one relationship at a time. 💛

Behind every outreach…
every care kit…
every meal…
every moment of compassion…

…there are Hope Dealers. 💛

People willing to show up, serve, and remind others they are not forgotten.

Some pack bags.
Some donate supplies.
Some pray.
Some hand out meals and hygiene kits directly to our unhoused neighbors.

But every single one plays a role in bringing hope to our community.

And the truth is, there’s always room for one more.

If you’ve been looking for a way to make a real difference, this is your sign.

Whether you want to volunteer, donate, partner, or support the mission in another way, we would LOVE to have you become part of the AMFB family.

Because hope spreads person to person. 💛

People often see the outreach, care kits, meals, and supplies being handed out. But what they don’t always see are the people behind the scenes making it happen.

The volunteers packing bags late at night.
The donors who quietly give every month.
The businesses that donate supplies.
The students assembling hygiene kits.
The people praying over every outreach before we go.

This mission is built by a community of compassion. ❤️

And as the weather gets warmer in Southern California, the needs continue to grow. Sunscreen, water, hygiene items, snacks, socks, and basic essentials become even more critical for our unhoused neighbors living outdoors every single day.

We would love for YOU to be part of this mission.

Here are a few ways you can help:
