54th ANNUAL CROSS COUNTRY TRAILRIDE CANEY KS TO PAWHUSKA OK JUNE 6TH 7TH & 18TH FRI, SAT & SUNDAY Sponsored by the Caney Saddle Club Marvin Long - Trail Boss The Caney Saddle Club welcomes you to attend their annual trail ride. Cowboys still roam the huge ranches in that area. Riding the fences & checking cattle herds like the cowboys in the 1800’s. $100.00 for all 3 days OR $35.00 per day

PER PERSON FEES MUST BE RECEIVED BY June 1ST TO GUARANTEE A RESERVERATION. Emergency refunds are at the discretion of the Trail ride Committee!!!!! This fee covers 7 meals (there will be no Sunday evening meal). All beach privileges you are responsible for the pool expenses at Osage Park. Transportation will be provided each evening back to previous camp to get trucks & trailers. HORSE FEED WILL NOT BE PROVIDED. All visitors & drivers are welcome for all meals (&6.00 per plate) & camping. They may join the Cook Wagon Caravan during the day. DIRECTIONS TO THE CANEY ARENA: Caney ,KS is located 20 miles west of Coffeyville, KS on HWY 166 or 20 miles N of Bartlesville OK on US HWY 75. When you enter Caney you will be on HWY 75 go West on 6th ST approximately 1 mile to the edge of town. After you cross the railroad tracks, take the first right turn into the Caney Recreation Park and you will see the Arena at the North end. WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU CHECK IN ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON, IF YOU ARE COMING FROM A DISTANCE. You may camp at the Arena Thursday night if you like. There is no electric hook ups, but there is water to water your horses.6AM CHECK IN: persons arriving SAT morning should be checked in by 7:15AM 7:45am RIDER MEETING (all riders to assemble in the arena) A brief meeting to explain the Ride Rules, and last minute announcements. 8AM (PLEASE BE READY TO LEAVE ON TIME) we’ll begin our exit from starting Camp and head for Hulah Lake approximately 20 miles to the Friday Camp. Mullendore’s Crossbell Ranch will be the majority of the ride Friday. 2PM Approximate arrival time at Hulah – You will be taken back to Caney Arena to retrieve your rigs. There will be water & electric hook-ups available across the road from the horse camp, at your expense. “NO HORSES ARE ALLOWED ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE ROAD” PARK RULES The designated horse camp (on the east side of road) is complimentary of the Caney Saddle Club. Sat Morning 6AM Breakfast will be served. 8AM SHARPE we’ll leave camp. Sat ride is approximately 28 miles, ranch riding very similar to Friday. 12:00 meet the cook shack for lunch from 12:00-1:00. 3:45PM Approximate arrival time at Osage Hills. Upon arrival riders will be taken back to previous camp to retrieve your rigs. Osage Hills camp is primitive, with electric and water hook-up about 1 mile from the horse camp. Horse water will be available in camp. Riders and family may use the Pool upon arrival at camp, at your expense. The Pool closes at 8PM. Remember Supper will be served at 6PM. 6:00PM – 7:00PM Supper will be served. Sunday is our last day 6AM Breakfast will be served. 8AM SHARPE we’ll leave camp ride, is approximately 22 miles, also ranch riding. 12:00 we’ll meet the Cook Shack for lunch & hit the trail at 1PM. 2:45PM Approximate arrival time at Pawhuska. We end the ride at the Osage Trading Co. on US HWY 99. There you will be able to purchase souvenirs, refreshment, to***co products & a variety of tack & western apparel. Upon arrival riders will be taken back to Saturday camp to retrieve your rigs. The ride management is always open to suggestions for improvement, to make the ride more enjoyable, so everyone will desire to come back again & again. We are very proud of the fact that some of our riders were on the very first ride in 1960 & some of our rider’s parents were the pioneers of this great event. It is no surprising to find a rider that may have made this ride as many as 15 or 20 times. With this in mind allow us to list some simple rules. 1. All riders must sign Liability Release Forms: signature of parent or guardian required for minors. 2. CURRENT NEGATIVE COGGINS PAPER ARE REQUIRED: ORGINAL COPY WITH HORSE MARKINGS. 3. No alcoholic beverages in camp, or on the trail. 4. NO STALLIONS ALLOWED. 5. One rider to an animal, and NO animals without a rider. 6. Leading or tying one animal to another is not allowed…Each rider must be able to ride their own horse. 7. Smoking on the trail will be restricted according to weather conditions. 8. Do not pass Trail Boss. 9. Keep the gaps closed throughout the group PLEASE. IF A CLUB MEMBER ASKS YOU TO CLOSE UP A GAP, PLEASE COOOPERATE. NO STRAGGLERS. IF YOU ARE IN TROUBLE LET US KNOW. WE WILL DEAL WITH YOUR NEEDS. 10. YOUR HORSES AT HULAH MUST REMAIN ON THE EAST SIDE OF ROAD. DO NOT WATER AT THE LAKE. WATER FOR ANIMALS IS PROVIDED AT THE SHOWER HOUSE. DO NOT TIE HORSES IN YARD AT THE SHOWER HOUSE. 11. Picket lines or trailers are used for tying horses; not directly to trees. 12. DO NOT WATER IN THE PONDS. 13. No dogs allowed. 14. If you do not follow the rules you will no be allowed to finish the ride. If you have a problem contacts the Trail Boss. DO NOT FORGET PLENTY OF WATER FOR THE TRAIL!!!! WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU STOCK UP ON ICE & GAS BEFORE LEAVING CANEY. I understand the ride involves unpredictable weather conditions that require physical preparation for both rider and horse, being in remote areas for extended periods of time, far from transportation and medical facilities: that these areas have many nature and manmade hazards which ride management cannot anticipate, identify, modify eliminate; that horse can be excitable, difficult to control and unpredictable; and that accidents can happen at anytime. I agree to take full responsibly for myself and the animal that I am riding. I will hold the Caney Saddle Club, its officers, all individual members thereof, ride management, all ride personnel, state of Kansas Department of Fish and Game, state of Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, all state parks, its personnel and all individuals connected with the parks, and all property owners over whose land the ride crosses, blameless for any accident, injury, or loss that might occur due to my participation in the ride, and free from all liability for such accident, injury or loss.
