Rochester Contemporary Art Center has put together this amazing exhibition that deals with immigration featuring both local and national artists. They have several events coming up specific to the project, including the opening reception on October 2 and a film screening on October 16, so make sure to check it out and sign up to attend!

“Sanctuary: Borders & Belonging in 2026” includes a major community interview project documenting nearly 100 of our neighbors telling their immigration story. 

Conducted by local artists, videographers, and community activists, the recordings offer a diverse portrait of immigration and belonging while grounding political debate in the lived experiences of our neighbors, community leaders, and longtime residents.

Plan to come see Community Interview Project: The Immigrant Experience, at the gallery as it will only be available for viewing at RoCo Oct. 2- Nov. 14. Further highlighting the current climate of fear, danger and surveillance created by the current administration, all participants were filmed with their backs to the camera, embodying the concept of no one is safe until all are safe. For additional privacy and safety, no video or sound clips will be posted online or used in promos. 

Interviews were conducted by the following videographers. They deserve unlimited appreciation and gratitude for their hard work creating this powerful archive. We’ll be sharing their reflections on what it meant to participate in this project in upcoming social posts.

Our friends at World Relief Western New York recently held their Good Neighbor Gala and shared postcards that would be sent to several of our representatives in support of immigrants. The statistics show that Americans do welcome immigrants and we are proud to be part of that majority!
