2026 ATHENA SPOTLIGHT: JACQUELINE TIERMINI
For Jacqueline Tiermini, leadership is about creating opportunities — and then helping people see what’s possible.
As Director of the Finger Lakes MOSAIC Collective and Department Chair at Finger Lakes Community College, Jacqueline has spent her career building pathways that connect students with education, careers and their communities.
Her latest endeavor, MOSAIC, brings high school students together with local businesses, nonprofits and community organizations through authentic, project-based experiences. Launched in 2025, the program’s first year connected students from five school districts with approximately 23 community partners.
The goal is bigger than a classroom assignment. It’s about helping young people see their work as meaningful, their voices as valuable and their futures as something they can actively shape.
That same philosophy has shaped Jacqueline’s work as an educator and mentor. She has encouraged students to pursue teaching careers, supported new instructors and helped women recognize possibilities they may not have seen for themselves.
For Jacqueline, leadership isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about asking better questions, building better partnerships and creating something better when existing systems aren’t working for students.
That commitment has defined her work — from leading the Regional Education Continuum and redesigning developmental English at FLCC to creating MOSAIC and mentoring the next generation of educators and leaders.
Join us in celebrating Jacqueline Tiermini, a 2026 ATHENA Leadership Award honoree, at the 41st Ontario County ATHENA Awards on November 5.
